Answers:
Gumpaste dries faster and is a little more brittle when dried!. It is typically used when you need to make flowers that require a lot of ruffling, because it can more rolled more thinly than fondant can without tearing!. also, it can resist tearing when you apply gumpaste tools to thin out the edges (to ruffle them!.)

Fondant is easier to use, especially for newer decorators!. You can make a "fortified" fondant by kneading and blending equal parts of gumpaste and fondant together!. This combo with give you more strength and the pieces will dry faster because of the gumpaste, but still give you the pliablity of fondant!.

Good luck with your first fondant cake!

Use the gum paste to make the flowers!. The fondant roll and put over the cake tucking it under a bit!.

Good luck!

P!.S!. I like making polka dots for cakes with colored fondant!. Makes the cakes look fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com
