Hello Poppy,
The addition of garlic topping your burgers should not harm them while cooking!. I would recommend that you use a light sprinkling of garlic powder instead of fresh minced garlic if you are using a grill!.
The pieces of minced or chopped garlic will burn and get stuck in your grilling grates!. Your burger would have pieces of burnt garlic on it!.

Good Luck! I hope this has helped you!

How about roasting some garlic and spreading that on them or the bread when they are cooked!. The flavor will be milder and not overwhelm the venison flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Totally overwhelm them! Why not make a nice chilli and garlic sauce for them!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Overwhelm and ruin them make sauceWww@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't!. They seem to have quite enough extras in them already!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
