How is charcoal for cooking made?!

Question: How is charcoal for cooking made!?
Answers:
That's a really embarrassing question for me because my Dad spent most of his career helping several companies develop or improve their process for making charcoal!.
Maybe I was more curious about sex, but I never asked him the question!.
I'm glad someone else directed you to a how-to!. I only know the big picture, that it's about half-burning wood or other combustibles!. Stopping the process so that the product then still wants to burn some more!.

You really can make your own charcoal at home - even if you live in the suburbs! If you use the indirect method, which burns the gasses, and use a clean burning fuel (such as natural or LP gas) the emissions are mostly water vapors with very little smoke!. It is not difficult to do and, even when burning waste wood to provide the carbonizing heat , the process requires less time and attention than barbecuing a rack of ribs in a wood burning smoker!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
