Picky Husband?!
Ok, my husband is the pickiest person in the world when it comes to food!. He doesn't like any veggies (seriously, none not even POTATOES! fries, baked, etc!.) he doesn't like rice, he doesn't like mayo, ranch dressing, mustard, ONLY KETCHUP!. I need new ideas of what to cook for dinner!. All he likes is meat, beans, mac and cheese, mexican food (minus the "salad," rice, sour cream, etc), green chile, and fruit!. He's a wonderful hubby and I believe this is his only flaw!. I would love any recipes you guys have to help my poor brain, I can't think anymore!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My husband used to be like that!. They get less fussy over the years!. I used to grind up onions and green pepper and add them to my spaghetti sauce or meatloaf, and he never knew!.
If you can learn to make your own flour tortillas, you can make really excellent mexican food at home!. Bean and cheese tacos, carne guisada (buy the Fiesta seasoning mix for it, it comes out perfect every time), and once he's really anticipating your homemade tortillas, try making picadillo tacos!.
He sounds like he would like casseroles!.!.!.tuna casserole, chicken casserole!.!.!.
Pot roast and brisket would be good, if you have a crock pot!.
Hamburgers with a can of ranch beans on the side!.
Meatloaf with mac and cheese on the side!.
Learn to make your own bread too, and you can make homemade burger buns or pigs in a blanket, or hamburger empanadas!. I use a bread machine to make the dough and then I just shape it into whatever I need it to be!. You can make pizza crust with it too!.
Just remember, he may decide to eat more things later on!. It could be that his mother was a terrible cook and he learned to avoid things in self-preservation!. It could also be that he's afraid he'd have diarrhea at work or something like that!.
also, when you have a toddler, they tell you that the kid might have to try something new 20 times before they're willing to eat it!. And men are big babies, especially once they're married!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

With a husband THAT picky, I'd just cook whatever I wanted for dinner and make sure there was enough of something he does like for him to fill up on!. There's no need for either of you to suffer!.
I wouldn't deprive myself or my kids of things we like, just because he doesn't like them!. Just by a case of Easy Mac, a case of baked beans and plenty of meat, and let him eat those while you eat veggies, salads, and whatever!. But, buy him a giant sized bottle of vitamins, too!
When you have Mexican food, cook the meat, get the trimmings ready and let him build his own with the stuff he likes, but be sure to have the lettuce, sour cream, or whatever YOU like, too!.
It won't hurt him a bit to see you eat things you enjoy!. And, who knows, he may even decide to try a bite or two of the stuff you're enjoying now and then, and find out he doesn't hate it so much after all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ohhhh!.!.!.you poor girl!. That's terrible!.
(Let me guess, he picks out all the pieces of tomato and onion out of your spaghetti sauce and pushes them to the side of the plate!?)
Actually I have seen a V8 juice commercial for people like him, who do not eat vegetables!. At least he eats beans!.
Ask him what else you can make!. If he is going to be that picky, he'll have to give you some help in keeping things interesting on the dinner table!.
How about fettucine alfredo as a side dish!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

And YOU are responsible for his mouth's happiness!?
He has a fussy two year old child's tastes!. His mother helped ruin his taste buds by catering to them!. Talking to him about it will do nothing and complicate issues!. Right!?
Solution!? Have him cook for himself for a while - at least he should help:
by learning how to please himself his tastes will hopefully evolve beyond the two year old angry stage!. There's a world o' exciting food out there for him to explore!

But you can ask him what he likes and mmake it or just modify the other food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you're concerned about getting your husband to eat vegetables, then seriously talk to him about it!. Some day he's going to be having some serious health problems if he can't get over his tastes!. also, there might come a very embarrassing situation if the two of you have to attend a dinner party together or if he has to have a lunch meeting with an employer!. People judge on these things, sorry to say!.
As a former picky eater myself, my mother struggled to find things that would please me without sacrificing good nutrition!. So here's what ya gotta do:
1) Try corn--corn on the cob or corn bread (with whole kernels) is a good way to start!. Seriously, if you don't like any other veg, this is the one to try!. Salt and butter is all that is necessary!.
2) Make zucchini muffins or pumpkin muffins!. Just tell him it is a new banana muffin recipe!. If he doesn't see you make them, he won't know!. They are delicious and moist!. You can always put a little icing on top to really disguise them!.
3) Try Asian food!. Stir fries have loads of sauce on them, and when things get all cooked together, the individual flavors (which may be too intense on their own) simmer down!. He can put teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, hoisin sauce on it!.!.!.
4) What about chicken pot pie!? Peas, carrots, corn, beans, etc!. can be hidden within this and stewed down to taste like chicken gravy!.
5) Try plain iceberg lettuce and perhaps put italian dressing or even a little bbq sauce on it (made with a ketchup base)!. You have to start somewhere!. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a little lemon juice and s&p is simple if you don't have Italian dressing!. A little grated parmesan cheese also intensifies this!.
6) Try sauteing zucchini!. It's very mild and delicious when served right away with salt and pepper!. It's a good vegetable!.
6) If he likes Mexican, does he like salsa!? My aunt has a recipe where you use a large jar of picante salsa, and add a chopped red pepper and a yellow pepper, plus a bag of frozen corn and some black beans and cilantro!.
7) Try grilling some veggies, like potatoes and asparagus!. They take on a whole different flavor when laid over some hot coals with a little salt & pepper!. A bbq sauce can cover them if extreme measures are necessary!.
8) Doctor up some spaghetti sauce and add veggies to it, like onion, garlic, and grated carrots!. Adding a can of tomato paste can really thicken it up, and if you were to grind up some pepper in the food processor, you'd add lots of flavor without the chunkiness!.
9) Make potato gnocchi with a cream or tomato sauce!. You can find simple recipes all over the Internet!.
10) On that note, make chicken alfredo and add in some broccoli!. Broccoli stems are very mild in taste, so you can start with those if the tops are too potent!.
11) Lots of people add peas and ham to homemade macaroni and cheese!.
12) Sweet potato casserole can be as decadent as a dessert, though the taste might be strong!. If you add cinnamon and nutmeg, it becomes similar to pumpkin pie!.
13) Introduce him to Italian cooking, as there are similarities between that and Mexican food in ingredients and flavors!. I would say Italian and Mexican food are the top ethnic dining in America, with Chinese coming in a close third!.
14) I personally do not like the taste of plain mayo!. Introduce him to Miracle Whip Light; it might be more pleasing to his tastes!.
15) Make real mashed potatoes, adding cream to them with salt and pepper, and perhaps a little garlic seasoning!. Put butter on top!. If he doesn't want to try them, tell him how much time you put into washing, peeling, cooking, and mashing them and then perhaps he will eat them begrudgingly!. This is better than nothing!. Gravy on top works miracles, and beef is also excellent served right on top of a pile of these bad boys!.
On another note, you just need to cook a single vegetable as a side dish and insist that he try it!. There is a statistic out there that if you are introduced to something, like, 12 or 13 times, you will like it!. Yes, 12 or 13x seems steep, but generally by the third time it works!! Even if he doesn't *love* it, he's eating it!. And a trial serving shouldn't be huge!. Big portions are intimidating!.
And always remember, your culinary loves don't need to suffer because of your husband!. You could make something for dinner one night and if he refuses to eat it or try it, just tell him that you wanted it, you like it, and you're going to eat it!. He can cook something else if he likes!.
Treat him like a child in that if he doesn't try something, he doesn't get dessert!. You can stop buying the junk food or "safe" food and he'll learn to eat what you make!.
also, if there is a certain dish that holds a lot of meaning to you, like, a hearty vegetable soup your mom used to make you, make it one evening and tell him all about it--either how she prepared it, why she served it, and what it means to you or reminds you of!. If you place a value on what you're eating, he might do the very same!.
Research this stuff online some more!. There is tons of info out there for parents with picky eaters, so this shouldn't be a problem!. If you can't cook, make an effort to try!. If you need help, call a friend or relative as they would love to offer that kind of guidance!. Often times picky eaters come from families where their mom (sorry for the stereotype) wouldn't cook (not couldn't--just wouldn't spend the time to do it) so their palette never developed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
