Answers:
smart price tins of chopped tomatoes are a godsend!. i blitz em with a stick blender to make em smooth and then you can do loadsa things!. add lots of basil and garlic to make a simple sauce for over pasta / spaghetti etc!. or add curry powder, onions, mixed herbs and mushrooms etc to make a curry based sauce to which you can add just small amount of chicken / meat and have with rice!. same thing again with small amount of minced beef , chile powder and smart price can of beans, again have with rice to make nice chile con carne!. or use it to spread on pizza base and add cheap veggies and again small peices of chicken etc!. sooooo many meals can be made with cans of toms as the base, get your thinking cap on!! enjoy eating cheaply and healthily!.
nb!. obviously the above only kinda works if you like tomatoes!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cottage pie (made with minced beef, Shepherds pie is made with lamb) - very cheap!. You need to use the cheapest mince you can buy for this - the thick cut mince not fine cut!.
Add tin of tomatoes, some stock cubes and three tablespoons of gravy mix, put in the oven on a low heat for two hours (thats important - the meat really soaks up the flavours) and then top with mashed potato, sprinkled with parmesan and put back in the oven until crisp and brown on top!. Serve with peas, baked beans or salad!.

A packet of chopped porrk pieces!.
A small tin of tomato puree
A small tin of sweetcorn
A small carton of coconut milk
Stir fry all this together and then leave to simmer for 15 minutes!.
Cook a pan of rice and add to the rice when cooked!.
Cost about £5!.00

Hope that helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I make a chilli con carne that lasts forever! I use mince (but not a great lot because you can fluff it out with tinned tomatoes), onions, garlic, couple of tins of tomatoes, water, oxos or gravy granules, chilli powder, sweetcorn and kidney beans, then I am good to go! I haven't mentioned exact measurements because I just throw anything in!. Fry up the onions, add mince, add garlic then all of the other ingredients!. If I have left over items, such as courgette, they go in to! It makes a huge pan that feeds us for two days and then there is some left over to freeze!

I also make a goulash stew - all kinds of root vegetables (potato, carrot, swede, turnip, parsnip) and a little bit of meat (which doesn't have to be fantastic quality because you are cooking it for so long)!. Fry up mince and garlic, add all of the other ingredients, tons of stock or gravy granules, tin of tomatoes, paprika (powder) and cook for about two hours!. Again, loads left over to make at least one more meal!Www@FoodAQ@Com
