Since I really like Italian cooking, I make these when we have company, as an appy before Salads -
Cheese and Rosemary Bread Sticks
Giada DeLaurentiis
1/3 c!. Guyere or swiss cheese
1/4 c!. Parmesan
1 tsp!. of chopped fresh rosemary
1 - 11oz!. container of refrigerated bread stick dough, like Pilsbury
1 tbsp!. olive oil (I like extra virgin)
1 tsp!. sea salt (I normally skip this)
Preheat oven to 350F, line 2 heavy cookie sheets with parchment paper
Chop the cheeses and rosemary together, I use my food processer to do this!. If you don't have one you can get cheap hand choppers, starfrit makes a good one!.
Seperate dough into rectangles!. Using a sharp knife cute each dough rectangle in half lengthwise to for 2 thin strips!. Lightly brush the dough with oil using a pastry brush!.
Working with one strip at a time coat each with the cheese mixture, the roll each dough strip between the palms of your hands and your work surface to form an 8 inch long strip!.
Transfer dough strips to cookie sheets and sprinkle with salt!. At this point you can cover them tightly with saran wrap and refrigerate for up to 4 hours!.
Bake until the bread sticks are golden brown, about 15 minutes!. Transfer to warm basket and serve!. (Ovens vary, I find mine are normally done after about 12 minutes)!.
I like these because I can make them ahead of time and pop them in the over when company arrives!. They are very tasty!. I sometimes serve them with a marinara sauce for dipping!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My absolute favorite:
crostini (thinly sliced bead toasted in the oven with oil or clarified butter) rubbed with a garlic clove
goat cheese with capers, shallots, lemon juice and a little lemon zest, black pepper
smoked salmon, sliced
sprig of dill
Spread goat cheese spread on the crostini and put a little smoked salmon on top!. l like to kinda puff up to salmon rather than laying it flat!. Then put a small sprig of dill on top!. Delicious! A whole plate of them really looks nice on a table!. You can use Lox too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

pesto torte, stuffed mushroom, shrimp cocktail, anything crunchy with soft fillings like crab puffs!. Salmon mousse with crackers and cucumbers!. Cheese in a can on rye crackers!. potato chips and onion dip doesn't really fit in this catagory but it is still a fav! This could go upscale with potato skins or roasted mini red potatoes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
