Why can't we use hot tap water to cook?!
Answers:
The insides of a hot water heater contain metals that can, and do corrode!. Some of the pipes in your home that are not made of PVC may have lead soldering!. Hot water will dissolve metals, especially lead, much quicker than cold water will!. Not to mention that over the years of daily use of drawing gallons throughout the day in cycles causes the water from the local utility, with all of it's impurities to collect and precipitate in the bottom of the hot water heater!. This is a prime breeding ground for bacteria!. Perhaps they cannot survive in an environment where the water is around 140°, but as soon as the water cools down enough due to a power outage or extended leave (if you turn off your water heater), all the necessary nutrients are there in an 80 gallon soup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Due to the fact that you may need a higher temperature of water to do your cooking !.!.!.!. If you choose to use hot tap water it may not have the right temperature to fully cook the item that you are preparing and can cause you illness that may be mortal at some point in time !.!.!.!. for example : if you were to prepare chicken you would need it to cook for a certain amount of temperature in order for it not to cause harm due to the fact that you will be killing all of the bacteria that it can contain raw or medium raw!.!.!. im not sure if you mean use the hot tap water to actually cook the food in, or use the hot tap water to boil, and cook in!.!.
you can fill a pot with hot water if you intend to boil it on the stove and cook in it - i do it quite often if im in a rush!.!. cause i have thick pans, and it can take a while to boil!.!.!.
but if you mean cook in tap water - you simply can't, it is no where NEAR hot enough!.!. it needs to be at a boiling tempreture for the period of time in which you are cooking it!.!.!. you simply wouldn't cook your food!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on what you're asking!. If you're asking why you can't just put hot tap water in your bowl to cook up some ramen, it's because it isn't hot enough!. If you're asking why you're putting cold water in a pot instead of hot, then by all means, use hot!. There are very few things (like non-instant rice) where that makes a difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The hot water sits in the tank for a while before it is used, and may contain sediments that settle to the bottom of the tank!. If you want water to boil faster (and it will not ruin whatever you are cooking) add salt to the water!. Saltwater has a lower boiling point than plain water (same reason they put salt on roads in the winter - it has a lower freezing point too)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hot tap water will not retain the
heat needed to use to cook!.
Boiling the water will retain the
temperature with the help of the
heat of the pan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
