Is hummus and tabouli fattening? Are they good for you?!
Answers:
Well, they do have fat, but it's the good kind!. I hear that many people who become vegetarians actually gain weight because plant sources of protein tend to be higher in fat than meat sources!.
Just the same, when I look back at the time in my life when I ate the most hummus, I actually lost 17 pounds because of the stress and lack of time to eat in my first year of teaching! Lunch was often a handful of carrot sticks and a blob of hummus back then!. Not fattening!.
If you're eating moderate portions of hummus as part of a balanced diet with lots of vegetables and getting exercise, it will be good for you!. If all you eat is hummus and you're a couch potato, it will be fattening!. That's basically it!.
By the way, if you want to laugh every time you hear the word hummus, watch the award-winning short "West Bank Story" on iTunes!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends, If you make homemade hummus (boil chickpeas and puree them with cumin, lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic) then it's fat free!. Same with Tabouli (cracked wheat, parsley, mint, cucumber, tomatoe, lemon juice, salt, pepper)
Most Hummus and Tabouli recipes require olive oil, just omit the oil and the tahini in the recipe if you want to go fat free!. Other than that, they're both really healthy because hummos is lean protein and tabouli has fiber (cracked wheat) and herbs/vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
