Mushrooms which have been marinated in soya sauce and olive oil make anything special but especially Italian dishes!.
Pistachio Pesto (basil) also adds the x factor!. The combination of tomato-based sauce, cheese, and pesto send ones tastes buds soaring!.!.!.
I also like fresh thyme sprinkled over!.
Everyone has their own preferences, so one mans perfect pizza is another mans blasphemy!. I couldn't bare any Italian dish without basil, but then I think I might be addicted!. I will have to join B!.A!. (Basilics Anonymous - the Way to Fly)!.
I like to make Mexican-style versions of Italian food!. Chilli sauce (Tex Mex rather than from Mexico) instead of Italian sauce, crust made from corn, tomatillos instead of tomatoes, cheese = queso oaxaca, red and green salsa, sour cream, mushrooms marinated in chile-soya sauce and oil, refried beans, jalapeno, coriander, peppers, pineapple, papaya, sweetcorn, cacao - though not all at the same time!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i don't tihnk chorizo (spanish/mexican mostly) goes too well with sundried tomato and basil (italian mostly)!.!.!. i would go with either NO meat, or a milder italian sasuage to not overpower the flavors of the vegitables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is fantastic fresh spinach and basil, mozzarella, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic and freshly grated parmesan cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sounds like you've got it covered! Not my favorite, but a ham and pineapple pizza (Hawiian) style is popular here!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
