You want things that can be made in bulk and frozen in portions!. Bolognese is good but you need to cook the pasta separately as it doesn't freeze well unless it's lasagne!. Lasagne is also good, you can make a large rtray and portion and freeze!.

Curries and chillis are best, as you can make them and the rice and freeze in portions that they just microwave!. Stews and casseroles are also good, you just portion and freeze!. Ditto cottage/shepherds pie!.

to get some ideas, visit the supermarket and see what they sell in the frozen ready-foods section!.

Generally you don't need to defrost before heating, just make sure they put some water in the pan first to stop it birning, the steam also helps defrost the food!.

You could also buy packs of frozen potato, you can buy mashed, chips, roast etc!. which just need putting in the oven whilst they reheat the food in a pan!.!.

If they're going to use a pan, other options are dried pasta and rice meals!.

A good way of portioning is to buy the plastic trays that they use in chinese takeaways, you can buy them cheap in places like PoundlandWww@FoodAQ@Com

If you cook a big batch of Spag Bol Sauce and freeze it in 1 or 2 meal portions!. Put it in the fridge to defost either the night before or in the morning of the day you want to eat it as your going out to work!.

It can be reheated and served with pasta or jacket potatoes!. If you have more time you can do some mash potatoe and turn it into a shepherds/cottage pie!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

for me the best stuff for reheating is something with a sauce!. dry food will dry out the when reheated and therefore isnt much fun to eat!. when i prepare stuff for future consumption i cook stuff with sauce like stews and pasta dishes!. just pop em in the microwave and they'll be good to go!. just remember to store them properly in clean containers so they dont spoil!. you can defrost em directly in the microwave!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Done this umpteen times! make lasagna, meatballs in tomato sauce, hamburgers, roasts chicken breasts, meat loafs, chicken corn soups, flavored rice dishes, like make a pilaf with meat , Bolognese- I don't know what kind of cuisine you like but I know that my Indian friend makes a lot of Yummy stuff like lentils, biryanis, kofta curries, !. Once you have cooked these things- Use stryafoam trays or the plastic containers and put the food in as soon as its cooled off and seal them with foil ( real tight) and label each of them- tray are good as they stack on each other, the containers are good if you have a large freezer, For the soup try the small plastic bowls you get, they hold one portion and seal them with well -They too stack wellWww@FoodAQ@Com

I do this all the time, being a single bloke!. Bolognese sauce, Chilli con Carne, and curries are all suitable!.

I do the rice or pasta at the time, though!.

Strictly speaking, you should defrost them first, but I never remember and have to just "blast" them in the microwave!. As long as they are piping hot all the way through, you should be fine!. Nothing's happened to !.!.!. <thud> :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can cook and freeze anything you like
spag bol, chill/rice,chicken curry,Sunday roast, anything you like!.!. just make sure you take it out the night before so it is defrosted and make sure its all heated through properly before eaten!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think some ready meals say you can cook from frozen!.
When I freeze my own meals and prefer to defrost before reheating, using the microwave if necessary!.
Whichever way you do it, make sure the meal is well heated all the way through!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
