I love my steak grilled, personally!. I make a rub out of kosher salt, fresh ground peppercorn, garlic, onion powder, celery salt, and a little worcestershire sauce!. I marinate my steaks for at least an hour, but no more than 8!. After grilling, I take the steaks off the grill and tent them in tin foil!. The cooking will continue, but the "resting" will allow the juices to regroup inside the meat!. I love steaks with sauteed crimini mushrooms in garlic, butter and cabernet!. For sides, I love caesar or chopped salad and roasted or baked potatos!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The link below is my take on steak!. I say only on the grill!. You needn't sear a NY Strip!. Having a super hot grill is the key!. Touch your thumb to the tip of your pinkie and push the fleshy part beneath your thumb!. That is well done (purists will tell you to convince your husband to consider medium well, but I will spare you the lecture o!.O)
Garnish it with parsley or make some bernaise sauce:
BERNAISE SAUCE
1 c!. butter
4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
4 tsp!. tarragon vinegar
1/2 tsp!. freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp!. chopped parsley
2 tsp!. chopped chives
Place 1/2 cup butter in top of double boiler with egg yolks and vinegar, stirring constantly over hot (not boiling) water, until butter is melted!. Add rest of butter, stir until thick!. Remove from heat; add pepper, parsley, and chives!. Serve immediately!. Makes about 2 cups!.
You could probably halve that recipe for you and your husband and still have enough bernaise to last a month!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i use a little garlic powder and seasoned salt with a few drops of liquid smoke!.
i like to broil!. it seems to stay more juicey and tender!. if its thicker than one inch, start by broiling for 7 minutes on the first side, flip, reseason, and go for 5 minutes on the other side!. you may need to cook it a bit longer, but that'll be pretty close!.
you can garnish with some chopped green onions or a sprig of parsley, or just have some colorful vegetables on the plate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

About 30 minutes before you want to cook it, take it out of the fridge and let it come up to room temperature!. Garnish with salt and pepper (or a steak rub or steak spice) JUST before you grill it (the salt draws out the moisture, so you don't want to add it early)!.
I prefer to grill it on a propane grill at a med high temp!.
Too bad about the well done part though!.!.!.LOL at least you know when it's done, no guessing there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a little garlic pepper on it & sear it first on a HOT grill a couple of minutes on both sides then lower the temp & cook to how much you want it done & one thing after you take it off of the grill or pan if you do it inside, let it rest about 5 minutes that keeps it juicy (got that tip on bbq u) & enjoyWww@FoodAQ@Com
I have seen several chefs on the Food Network cook a steak in a cast iron fry pan!. They used high heat to sear it and then cook it until done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
