Question: Have you ever froze creamed/smashed potatoes!?
Someone gave us a case of red potatoes and I was curious if I make large batches of creamed potatoes (with milk and butter) and then freeze them in smaller portions would they taste good when thawed!. Has anyone done this and what was the result!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes! I do this all the time!. I make a huge batch of mashed potatoes with the milk, butter, salt and pepper!.

Freeze them in whatever size portions you want!. I put them into Glad containers!. If you use freezer bags, double bag them!. They'll keep for several months!.

Thaw in the fridge, or microwave!. You'll notice some liquid accumulates on top of the defrosted potatoes!. Stir it back in!. I reheat in the microwave but you can easily put them in the oven or slow cooker!. This is one of my favorite bulk cooking tricks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Think TV dinner and you will know what they will taste like!. I would search on the net on how to store potatoes!. In the meantime there are tons of dishes you can make with them!. And if you have a garden let some sprout and plant them!.

Think:

Potato Soup
French fries
Hash Browns
and on and onWww@FoodAQ@Com

I did and I will never do it again!. I froze some boiled potatoes planning to make a salad another day!. Later, I had to toss all the flavorless, shapeless, textureless wet frozen white yucky mass into the recycling can!. It didn't even taste like potatoes anymore!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes you can freeze them!. You will need to add a little warm milk after thawing them!. I buy frozen mashed potatoes in the freezer section !.Seal them well with as little air as possible before freezing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i have done it befor too and it comes out to be crap and never try it againWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure, but they are frozen in TV dinners!.!.!.!.!.!.so maybe!.!.!.do a small batch!.!.!.!.!.test it out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
