Did Kraft Macaroni and Cheese adjust the amount of margarine used in its "recipe" over the last few years?!
Looking at the box tonight, I noticed it called for four tbs of margarine!. I could have sworn that a couple of years ago, it was two tbs, and prior to that, it was four!. Was there a period of time where Kraft tried to be healthier!? This was just bugging me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are correct! Kraft did change their mac & chz recipe to be healthier!. They tried the lowfat alternative on the box and lost thousands in sales just because of the printing on the box!. To help build sales they reformulated the cheese recipe to use less butter / margerine and left the kid friendly packaging alone!. I thought I was the only one who wondered!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't think so, but!.!.!. I think there was a "healthier alternative" offered at one time!. A "reduced fat" version of it!.!.!. they tried it in a seperate box and then they tried an "alternative recipe" listed on the box!.
Anyway, I would've noticed if they'd decreased the butter/margarine level because I wouldn't have wanted to do it!. I use 4 Tbsp butter and only a splash of milk, not the huge amount they call for which waters it down so much! I like the more intense cheesy flavor you get when you add less milk!. So if they'd decreased the butter I would've had to add more milk to make it mix properly!.
I use real butter not margarine!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use to use a half stick of butter in college with however much milk they recommended back then (cant remember)!. A half stick last i checked is still 4 tablespoons so to answer your question directly, No your still adding the same amount of margerine!.
Now that that's said, Margerine is the healthier choice but it severly limits the flavor which is what im gathering from your question even though you didnt come out and ask it!. Feel free to add some real cheese use butter instead of margerine and your good to go as the tastebuds are concerned!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
