i checked out the recipe in food network website but it call for something called "half-and-half" what is that!. anyone have an easier, tasty recipe!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
12 slices white bread
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:
1!. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs!. Add the milk, brown sugar and nutmeg; stir well to combine!.
2!. Soak bread slices in the egg mixture until saturated!.
3!. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat!. Brown slices on both sides, sprinkle with cinnamon and serve hot!.


Applesauce French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup applesauce
6 slices bread

DIRECTIONS:
1!. In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar and applesauce; mix well!.
2!. Soak bread one slice at a time until saturated with liquid!.
3!. Cook on a lightly greased skillet or griddle over medium/high heat until lightly browned on both sides!. Serve hot!.


Caramelized French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
4 tablespoons butter, divided
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon salt 8 slices bread
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water

DIRECTIONS:
1!. Melt two tablespoons of butter in a frying pan or skillet over medium high heat!.
2!. Beat together eggs, milk and salt!. Dip bread one at a time into egg mixture and fry until light brown and egg is cooked!.
3!. After 4 slices of bread have been cooked, melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter!. Cook remaining bread slices until light brown on both sides and egg is cooked!.
4!. After all bread slices have been cooked and removed from pan, add brown sugar to pan!. Stir until melted and sticky!. Add water and stir!. Place French toast in caramel sauce!. Turn to coat, then remove from pan!. Serve!.

Almond French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup slivered almonds
3 eggs
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 thick slices French bread
3 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons butter
confectioners' sugar for dusting

DIRECTIONS:
1!. Place almonds in a small saucepan over low heat!. Tossing frequently, toast until lightly browned, 5 to 10 minutes!. Remove from heat, and set aside!.
2!. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, flour, salt, baking powder, almond extract and vanilla extract!. Soak bread slices in the mixture until saturated!. Place slices in a shallow pan!. Refrigerate slices approximately 1 hour!.
3!. Heat canola oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat!. One at a time, press one side of soaked bread slices in the almonds to coat!. Fry bread slices on both sides until golden brown!. Dust with confectioner's sugar before serving,


Stuffed French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
8 slices oatnut bread
1/2 (8 ounce) package cream
cheese, softened
1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam 5 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1 tablespoon butter

DIRECTIONS:
1!. Spread 4 slices oatnut bread on one side with cream cheese!. Spread remaining 4 slices on one side with raspberry jam!. Press cream cheese slices together with jam slices, forming sandwiches!.
2!. In a medium, shallow bowl, beat together the eggs, milk and almond extract!.
3!. Melt butter in a large, heavy skillet over medium high heat!. Dip sandwiches in the egg mixture to coat!. Place in the skillet, and cook on both sides until golden brown!.

Ultimate French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
2 tablespoons milk 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
8 slices bread

2 bananas, peeled and sliced

1 teaspoon water
1 tablespoon milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon orange liqueur
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/4 cup butter
confectioners' sugar for dusting

DIRECTIONS:
1!. Create a pocket about 2/3 of the way into each slice of bread by cutting along an edge!. Fill pockets with 2 or 3 banana slices each!.
2!. In a medium bowl, beat together eggs, water, milk, vanilla extract, orange liqueur and orange zest!. Dip the bread slices in the mixture, allowing slices to become saturated!.
3!. Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat!. Place a few slices at a time in the skillet, and cook, turning once, until both sides are golden brown!. Dust with confectioners' sugar to serve!.


Chocolate French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
3 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

12 slices day old bread, crusts removed

chocolate candy bars*, halved
2 tablespoons butter or

Strawberry-Banana French Toast

INGREDIENTS:
10 (1 inch thick) slices day-old
French bread

4 firm bananas, sliced

you take out a pan that you can put liquid in and place it on a counter!.!.then you have to get:
eggs[basesed on how much you make i reccomend you crack 2 the first time}
milk
vanila extract [optional]
cinnamon [optional]
bread
1!. crack eggs into pan, mix together,add some milk, you want a yellow goopy look, and you can add cinnamon and vanilla at this point,then put the slices of bread in the pan {let each side soak up the mixture and then flip to other side}
2!. get out a skillet, and put butter on the pan, place some toast with the mixture on it onto the pan!.
3!. let cook till both sides are brown

Place the oven rack in the centre position!. Turn the oven on to 450oF (230oC)!. Grease the pan with the cooking spray!. Set aside!. Melt the butter in the saucepan on medium!.

Break the eggs into the large bowl!. Add the milk and butter!. Beat with the whisk until the mixture is bubbly on top!.

half and half is cream and milk mixed, they sell it at the stores in the cream section!.
when i make french toast i usually don't follow a specific recipe,
just use 2 eggs, some milk maybe like 1/2 cup, some vanilla extract and some cinnamon!. mix it all up, heat up the pan, dip the bread in the mixture until its covered and put it on the pan!. let it cook till its golden brown and then eat with some maple syrup and butter! yum yum, now i'm hungry for some!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I never used a recipe!. Two ingredients: Just a few eggs, a little milk and whip them together!. Then I soak the bread in it and carefully lift it out with a wide spatula onto a buttered hot pan to cook!. (I like my bread saturated with the egg & milk mixture -- finished product crisp on the outside and like bread pudding inside!.)

A good tip is to let the bread that you are using stale a little bit(over-night)!. That way it will soak up some more liquid without getting soggy!. also I like to add some Kahlua to my milk/ egg mixture!. It is also awesome to substitute Eggnog for the milk when it is available!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I take 2 eggs with a little milk and mix it in a bowl
take your bread dip in the egg mix
put it in a pan that has a little butter in it
cook for a couple of minutes at med heat
flip and continue cooking for a couple of minutes
