Birthday cake box mix...willi it fall?!


Question: Birthday cake box mix!.!.!.willi it fall!?
I am going to make my fiance' a box birthday cake today!.!.and in the past when I have made cakes from scratch they always fall!. So, should I worry about the box cake mix!? Or is it just cakes from scratch!? I wanted to make the cake layers, but I'm worried it will fall, so should I just stick to a sheet cake just in case!? help!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are either not beating the cake recipe sufficiently, over beating it, or oven is not hot enough or you are under baking it to make every one of them fall!.

Follow the instructions on the package exactly!. and you shouldn't have any problems!.

I never have many cakes fall!. Those that do are the angels that get cold air on them!. I have had jets breaking the sound barrier over me while I am baking!. Kids running through and slamming doors!. Nothing makes my cakes fall!. Recipe or package!.

My sister on the other hand, cannot make a cake that doesn't fall!! She has a mind set against it!.

Set the oven temp before you ever start mixing so it has plenty of time to come up to temperature!. Set the timer for the minimum time for baking!. Take a toothpick to check in the center of one layer!. If it comes out clean and the cake is pulling gently away from the sides of the pan, cake is done!. cool for 15 minutes and remove from pan to plates!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As you see by the other answers, there are many different reasons a cake could fall!. But, it's unusual that your cakes ALWAYS fall!.

Do you live at a high altitude by any chance!? If you do, that could be why they all fall!. High altitude baking is rather tricky!.

If that's the case, you should use a recipe designed particularly for high altitude baking!. Some cake mixes have high altitude directions, too!. And, you can buy books with baking at high altitude tips!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Make sure you beat the batter on a stand mixer AT LEAST 3 min!. (closer to 5 min) to incorporate enough air into it!. You'll notice a definite difference in the batter after 3 min:) This will make it fluffier too !.!.!.!.!.!. It shouldn't fall if you bake layers on the middle rack; and don't let the pans touch!. There is always a possibility that a cake could fall!. Be careful when checking the cake and taking it out of the oven, as not to bounce it around a lot!. This website has some good short and sweet information that should help you!. Good luck!.

Boxed cake mixes rarely fall!. If they do it is because the person slammed the oven door after checking on the progress so set a timer and restrain your self from checking and slamming the door!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It shouldn't fall!. If you follow the directions on the box and preheat the oven!. I have baked cakes even with kids running and jumping around the house and they never fell!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
