Get your little bootie out in the kitchen!! Clip recipes from magazines, start a cookbook from a spiral notebook and write down things you think about, what you would like to eat, therefore learn to cook, go online to all those gazillion food places on the net!. Get permission to use your mom's kitchen anytime, cuz you gonna ALWAYS keep it cleaned up!! Then cook for your friends and invite them over!. People love being invited over for food!.
My grand daughter is 15 and she has always cooked because I always included her in the meal preparation and I taught her how to make bread, cakes, cookies and just plain home cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Under US labor laws, you'd be too young to go in the kitchen (there's some wiggle room for family business, but I don't know if that applies)!. So start with lots of cooking and lots of research!. Learn to like reading cookbooks and develop the kind of discipline it takes to not just make but perfect a recipe!. And finally, start thinking in terms of colleges like Johnson and Wales where you can get both a culinary and a college education!.
also, if you're in the US, pay close attention in Spanish class!. You won't regret it!. (In fact, you might want to save up for a copy of Cocina Betty Crocker -- a bilingual cookbook that will help you with the technical terms -- and a good book on Latin American street slang!. Both will be very, very helpful in a commercial kitchen!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I assume you're in high school!. Does your school offer home economic cooking classes!? Even though you're on summer break, contact the instructor of these courses for advice!.
However, if your school doesn't offer such classes!.!.!. Someone once told me, "if you can read, you can cook!." Start with any cookbooks you have in your home!. Look for recipes of your favorite foods!. Look for recipes with ingredients you can manage, i!.e!., ingredients you can purchase at your local grocery store!. If it's not a favorite dish, look for recipes with pictures so that you know what the end product looks like!. If you don't have any cookbooks at home, search for recipes on the internet!. Or go to your public library!.
Make your friends' cookies or brownies!.!.!.something you know they'll like!. Invite them over to help you learn how to make pizza from scratch or to keep you company while you bake!. Throw them a cooking party!.
Tell your family that you'd like to cook dinner for them once a week!. Once you're feeling more comfortable with cooking, bump it up to preparing dinner 3 times a week!. This will give you ample opportunity to teach yourself & become more comfortable in the kitchen as well as more comfortable preparing dishes for other people!.
Once you've familiarized yourself with the basics of cooking you can stretch your creative muscles by cooking on the fly, i!.e!., by not using recipes but combining ingredients that work well together!.!.!.you will eventually get a feel for this!. At some point, you'll discover that you're better at baking cakes than pastries, cooking sauces rather than broiling fish!.!.!.that you like Italian more than French, Indian spices, etc!.
Another idea: Who do you know who cooks really well!? Go talk to them!. Ask them if they'll help teach you to cook!.
Now's the perfect time to learn!. Go for it!! Good luck! Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com
