Microwave cooking?!
Okay, I wanna cook something but it says 25 minutes in the oven!. It gives no microwave instructions!. Will it be safe to cook in the micro as long as it's piping hot in the middle when I eat it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
It won't be the same as in an oven!.
I'd say remove all packaging, including the tray, not all plastics are micro safe, place on a micro safe dish or plate and cook on high for 2 mins, test to see if it's piping hot in the middle, if not give it another 2 min or so, and continue until it is really hot all the way through, let it stand for a minute then eat!.
Most microwave meals I've seen say 8 to 10 mins!. depending on oven and meal!. When you're not sure I think it's best to test every couple of mins until it's safe (hot all the way through) to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It won't come out the same to be sure!. Conventional ovens heat from the outside, whereas microwave ovens heat up water molecules to cook food evenly throughout!. This is why you cannot bake, grill or roast in a microwave oven!. If the food you are cooking falls under one of these categories of preparation, then the answer is no!. Safe to eat!.!.!. Difficult to tell!. It'd depend again on WHAT you are cooking!. A chicken, for example, may be piping hot in the middle but still pink and unsafe!.
And!.!.!. I guess you already know this, but it's worth repeating!.!.!. NO METAL IN THE MICROWAVE OVEN!. So watch the baking pans and aluminium foil, otherwise you'll have lightning bolts in your oven!. Just a thought, since conventional oven recipes usually call for these!.
EDIT: Response to your additional comments - Is it precooked!? If it is, it should be pretty fine!. It will not taste as good as if you had oven-baked it though, texture might be strange, etc!. Some foods, such as cheese, don't really like the microwave!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It really depends on exactly what it is!. It won't be browned on top, for example!.
also, is it in a microwavable (ie, not metal) dish!?
However, I'd 'zap' it for a couple of minutes, let it stand for a minute (to let the heat distribute through it) and check the middle!. If it isn't piping, give it another blast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
