Spinach soup disaster!!?!
I made some soup tonight with broccoli, spinach, celery, and onions, and some psyllium powder!. It actually tastes pretty good (although it might sound disgusting)!.!.!.!.But the trouble is, it has the consistency of egg whites!!!
Do you think it was the spinach that caused this!? Is there anything you can think of that I could add to change the gooey consistency without making it taste watery!?
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No it was not the spinach, it was the psyllium powder!. Psyllium acts kind of like a glue in your intestines, making your "waste products" stick together!. By cooking it in the soup you "activated" that characteristic and it "thickened" your soup!.
It does sound kind of grody, but I'm afraid I have very little in the way of suggestions!. Perhaps you could try thinning it down with a commercially purchased vegetable or chicken broth!? Sorry, that's about all I have for you!.
And unfortunate for you this question came across when Yahoo was frozen so my answer is likely to be the only one you get!. (I'm coasting backwards and trying to answer questions that didn't get answered, lol!)Www@FoodAQ@Com
