To cook crab you would have to put in boiling water, the key to it of course is to put the crab in when the water comes to a boil!. Before putting the crab inside i would put a tablespoon of salt and pepper and also three limes just to give it more if a kick in flavor to the water!. So make sure you place those ingredients to the water and when it comes to a boil i would place the Crab in for about roughly 15-18 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Generally the crab you buy in the store is already cooked (if it is red in color)!. If it's not red - then it's probably still crawling around!. If it's still moving, you would bring a pot of water to the boil - a big pot - and when the water is boiling, you dump that critter into the water and slap the lid on the pot so it won't get out!. Then you boil it for 10 minutes until it all turns pink!.
So as for cooking one that you bought that is already cooked, you pretty much just need to heat it in your recipe!. You can make a nice casserole with it - with creamy sauce and cheeses, or serve it over an English Muffin, placing a layer of cheese next to the muffing, then some crab that has been lightly mixed with just a touch of Thousand Island dressing, then a dollop of the dressing followed by shredded cheese - broil it just until the cheese has melted and enjoy!.
Or you can use it in a macaroni salad!. Or a Crab Louie salad!. There are lots of ways to use it - you can also use it in chowders!. You can also gently mix it with minced onion, dill, white (or black) pepper, and some mayonnaise with a little curry and put it in a sandwich - would be good with minced celery as well!.
Hope that helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Please do not boil it; it water it down and makes it taste a bit bland!. You want to steam it!.
Easy enough; if you don't have a steamer tray, just throw a bunch of silverware in a large pot; enough so about an inch or two water can go in there without submerging the crab!.
The, crank up the heat, put on a lid and let them steam for about 10 minutes!. Throw in some Old Bay for flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It really depends on what you mean by crab!.
If you're buying crab legs, just know that they are already cooked, so you only have to reheat them!. I take the meat out, and put in a pan with lots of butter, garlic and lemon and heat over low heat!.
