Baked chicken legs.....a couple questions?!
Hi all! I WAS going to make fried chicken legs for dinner, but then I discovered I was out of oil! So I'm going to have to bake them :(
Is there a way to get them crispy without any oil!? I've also never baked chicken legs before, so what temp should I cook them at and for how long (or what temp should they reach)!? I'm baking 12 normal size legs!.
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love baked chicken legs!.!.!.!.you can simply bread them with Italian flavored bread crumbs; spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray (could leave this step out, but your chicken will probably stick to pan); line up the breaded legs and bake at 375 for at least one hour!.!.!.!.check them at 45 min!. to make sure they are not getting burned!.!.!.they turn out crispy and moist inside!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Do you have any Crisco shortening to substitute in place of oil!? Or do you have any butter!? How about some Italian Dressing!? Here's an idea!.!.!.
1 cut up fryer, cleaned
1/2 c!. regular or low calorie Italian dressing
1/4 c!. soy sauce
1 sm!. onion, minced
1 tsp!. dry mustard
Mix dressing, soy sauce, onion and dry mustard together!. Baste chicken with mixture!. Broil on both sides until brown!. Baste again, cover and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour at 325 degrees!.
It won't be fried chicken, however!.

I coat mine in no-name Shake'n'Bake from the Bulk Foods!.
If you leave the skin on, there'll be plenty of fat for crisping!.
I suggest 425F for 45-60 minutes, depending on size!.
If you have a meat thermometer, it's above 160F inside!.
But you can test with a knife for clear juices!.
You may want a baking sheet to hold 12 legs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chicken skin is greasy anyway, they will crisp up somewhat when baked at 350 for 45-60 minutes!. Season lightly with garlic, salt and cayenne pepper!. To check for doneness at 45 minutes, stick a fork into the thickest thigh looking for bloody liquid!. If none, it's done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
you could use breadcrumbs, which will give you crunchy skin!. first roll them in flour, then dip them in beaten eggs(for 12 id say about 3 or 4 eggs) then the breadcrumbs!. bake at 350 for about 1 hour to an hour and 15 minutes!. you can put some dried herbs in the breadcrumbs for flavoring such as garlic and onion powder!. you wont even miss the oil!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I fix my chicken just like i am going to fry it!.then i spray cooking spray on the pan place the chicken on it and spray the chicken real good!. it will fry in the oven!. you might need to turn every once in a while and spray each side!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Go to Cooking Light !.com and type in "Oven Fried Chicken" w/o the quotes!.!.!. tons of good recipes w/ a crispy coating will come up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You could roll them in bread crumbs!. If you have just a little olive oil or something like that it would help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
