my siblings (3, 5, 7 and 9) dont like fruit or vegetables *plain*!. no salads of any kind either including fruit salad!. what are some fun creative ways to serve it to them!?
thks a lot! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
celery- peanut butter and raisins (ants on a log)
other veggies- dip such as ranch dip

fruit- they don't like ANY fruit plain!? Well!.!.!. you can serve them with a marshmallow dip or a chocolate sauce

apples- caramel dip (you can buy it premade in stores, its so good!)

here are some recipes:
Fruit dip: http://www!.cooks!.com/rec/view/0,1615,131!.!.!.

Ranch dip: http://www!.foodnetwork!.com/recipes/saras!.!.!.

Of course both of those recipes are available already made at the grocery store!. also, the fruit smoothies and kabobs that everyone else suggested would certainly work great too!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Okay, I know what you're going through - I've been there!.
There's only so much "hiding" the good stuff that you can do!.
Get some different dips, including caramel, chocolate and strawberry for the fruit and some mild ones like ranch dressings for the vegetables!.
Give each child a paper plate and have your fruit and vegetables on the table!. The rules are they have to use the vegetables on the table to make a one dimensional face, animal or building using only the vegetables they are willing to try!. Believe me, they'll want it to look good so they'll use more that way!. They can use the dips to help put it all together, but they have to try at least a bite of everything they used!. Let the older ones keep track of which ones they liked!.
A prize goes to the one who tried the most vegees, the most fruit, the wierdest animal, the funniest face!.!.!.

Plain old defrosted peas or blueberries make great eyes, carrots and bananas make great bodies, broccoli and curled apple pieces are terrific hair or trees limbs!.
Have fun and remember it takes a lot of patience!. Now my boys help me cook with their favorites!Www@FoodAQ@Com

For fruit, here's a real treat:

First, you take either an apple or orange, and cut them into those 'boat' shapes!. You then cut any other fruit (honeydew or cantalope are best) and make them shaped into a trapezoid!. Then, take a toothpick and stick your trapezoid shape on the top, and then stick the other into into the center of the top part of the boat!. You should finish with a cool boat shaped-fruit delight!
Veggies, you can try something creative, by cutting them into certain shapes and putting them together in order to create some type of fun display, made from vegetables! I saw that a guy made his veggies into a barn once!. He used cauliflower for the sheep, and brocolli for the trees!.
It was really cool!
Try it! : )Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cut apple pieces into french fry shapes, serve with strawberry jam as ketchup!.

Peanut butter on celery with raisins (ants on a log)

Cherry tomato bites, mix cream cheese with bacon bits, cut open tops of cherry tomatoes, take out seeds, fill each tomato with cream cheese mix

Chocolate dipped strawberries on long wooden skewers, put the skewers into a piece of foam, put the foam into a terra cotta vase (usually about a dollar) looks like a flower bouquet, and you can add other fruits as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Strawberries with a bit of sugar is good or whip cream!. Ask them what kind of fruits they like!. Fruit Kabobs are fun, too!. Try healthy snacks like:

Apples and peanut butter
Celery and peanut butter with raisins!. (nickname: ants on a log)
You can get dried fruits and make trail mix

With trail mix, make it with them with some popcorn, nuts, dried apricots/cranberries/etc, chocolate chips, and pretzels!. Pop in their favorite movie to watch and let them eat that, instead of chips or buttery popcorn!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

APPLE SMILES
This snack is easy for children to prepare and will be certain to bring a smile to their face!

Ingredients:

* 1 red apple, cored and sliced into eighths

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* a squeeze of lemon juice

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* smooth peanut butter

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* miniature marshmallows

Method:
1!. Spread peanut butter on one side of each apple slice (squeeze a little lemon juice over the apple if not serving immediately)!.
2!. Place five miniature marshmallows on one apple slice and then lay another apple slice peanut butter side down on top!.

CUCUMBER CROCODILE
This looks amazing, it's great for parties and it also makes a fabulous prop for your own children's healthy snacks!. I like to use a variety of cheeses, but cubes of ham or chicken also work well in place of the cheese!.

Ingredients:

* 1 x cucumber

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* Mixture of cheeses

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* 1 carrot (optional)

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* Fresh pineapple or 1 small can of pineapple chunks

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* cocktail sticks

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* 2 Cherry tomatoes

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
* Salad Cress (optional)

Method:
Cut out a triangle at one end of the cucmber to make the crocodile's mouth!. Cut two lengths of cheese and the carrot (if using) and, with a sharp knife, cut along one side of each length to form a serrated edge!. These are the crocodile's teeth!. Chop the cheeses and pineapple into cubes!. Thread cheese and pineapple cubes onto each cocktail stick and spear the sticks into the cucumber!. Cut a cocktail stick in half and use the two halves to attach the cherry tomatoes to form the crocodiles eyes!. Give the crocodile some teeth and he's ready to be served up! If you like, you can put him on a bed of salad cress to look like grass!.

If you ever make wrap sandwiches or burritos, just tuck some fruit or veggies inside and don't mention it!. When wrapped up, kids can't even see the veg and might not notice or care!.
