Question: Does anyone have any good recipes using cayenne peppers!?
I am a novice at herb gardening, I was told to grow cayenne peppers near the herbs to keep the insects away!. Now I have more cayenne peppers than I know what to do with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

LOL! Dry them out and then chop in food processor, and use when a recipe calls for "dry crushed red pepper flakes!." Or, shove in a bottle, add hot vinegar, and make pepper-vinegar!. Great on mustard and turnip greens!.

Next year, plant marigolds!. Pretty to look at, bugs hate them, and you wont' be needing any cayenne peppers next year, either!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Spicy cherry ribs!. Mmmmm

2 teaspoons yellow mustard
2 pork rib racks (St!. Louis style spare ribs)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 recipe Spicy Cherry Glaze, recipe follows
2 tablespoons scallions, chopped
1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Place ribs onto aluminum foil!. Brush the mustard onto the ribs!. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly!. Then cover the ribs with the rub!. Let sit at room temperature for 45 minutes!.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F!.

Wrap the ribs, meat side down, in the aluminum foil then place onto a baking sheet!. Bake for 10 minutes!. After 10 minutes, reduce the heat to 225 degrees F and cook for another 1 1/2 hours!. Then, open the foil and cook for 1 hour!. Remove ribs from oven, and discard the foil!. Cut into 4-rib portions!. Liberally slather on the Spicy Cherry Glaze, then place, bone side down, in a roasting pan!. Pour the remaining sauce over the ribs and continue to cook for 1 1/2 hours, basting occasionally!. When ribs are fork tender, place under broiler for 10 minutes to crisp the cherry glaze!. Serve immediately garnished with scallions and sesame seeds!.

Spicy Cherry Glaze:
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup diced red onion
4 tablespoons minced ginger
3 cups canned cherries in syrup, preferably Bing
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons tequila (recommended: Cabo Wabo Resposado)
3 tablespoons hot sauce (recommended: Sriracha)
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon sherry wine vinegar
4 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper

In a medium saute pan over medium heat, add oil, onion, ginger, cherries and garlic!. Saute until lightly caramelized!. Deglaze with tequila, hot sauce, sesame oil, sherry wine vinegar and soy sauce!. Let simmer for 15 minutes!. Season, with salt and peppeWww@FoodAQ@Com

Fresh Cayenne Hot Sauce recipe

You probably don't age your cayenne peppers for three years!. But it is possible to make your own hot sauce, if you have a supply of hot peppers!. Be careful handling the peppers!.

Wear rubber gloves and don't touch your eyes, mouth or any other part of your face!.

10 large fresh red cayenne chiles
or other favorite chile
2 cloves garlic, peeled and halved
3/4 cup white vinegar
Salt

Cut stems off peppers and cut peppers in half lengthwise!. Remove seeds and ribs!. Heat broiler!. Place peppers, cut side down, on rack in broiler pan!. Broil for about 5 minutes or until the skin blisters and blackens!. Transfer peppers to a plastic bag for about 10 minutes!. When cool, peel off skins!.

Place chile pulp and garlic in a blender or food processor!. With machine running, slowly add the vinegar until the mixture is well blended!. Add salt to taste!. Cover and refrigerate!. Will keep in the refrigerator for weeks!.

Makes about 1 cup!.

Cajun Kidney Bean Chili
Prep and Cook Time: 15-20 minutes

Ingredients:
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
1 medium yellow or red bell pepper, diced
3 cloves garlic, pressed
1 tsp paprika
1 TBS chili powder
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp cumin
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1- 15oz can kidney beans
1- 15 oz can diced tomatoes
Salt, pepper and olive oil to taste
Optional: cooked ground turkey

Chop onion and press garlic and let sit for 5 minutes to bring out their hidden health benefits!.
Healthy Sauté onion and bell peppers for 5 minutes!.
Add garlic, spices, tomatoes and kidney beans!.
Simmer for 15-20 minutes!.
Season to taste with salt, pepper and olive oil!.
Serves 2

Use canned black beans (preferably organic) to make this great meal in a matter of minutes!.

Prep and Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
1/2 red onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 15-oz can of black beans
2 TBS extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp chili powder
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
salt and pepper to taste
2 whole wheat tortillas
2 oz cheese
prepared salsa

Dice onions and chop garlic and let sit for 5 minutes to bring out their hidden health benefits!.

Dice bell peppers!.

Sauté onions and bell peppers for 5 minutes!.

Add garlic, black beans, olive oil, chili powder, cayenne pepper and salt and pepper to taste!.

Wrap 1/2 of mixture and 1 oz of cheese into each of the two tortillas!.

Top with salsa (if desired)
