Baking with sweeteners?!

Question: Baking with sweeteners!?
Can you substitute artificial sweeteners for sugar in recipes!? If so, do they turn out and taste okay!? Does this cut calories in baked goods!? I love to bake but I am currently trying to cut the fat and calories out of my food!. Any suggestions would be helpful!. Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
use sugar subs won't cut any fat, but will cut a few sugar calories!.

I like splenda in the big yellow bag, that you can measure out like sugar!. I find it does fonky in egg-based desserts, like custards and lemon bars, but fine in cookies or brownies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is an organic sweetner called "Stevia" it's way lower in calories then other sweetners but can leave a funny taste in some foods!. it's worth trying!. I use it in the organic muffins i bake!. for this recipe I use aple sauce in place of a fat like oil, this takes all the almost bitter edge out of the stevia!.( i know it's weird a bitter sweetner but it's the best way for me to describe it) it makes a great butter substitute in baking of cakes, without imparting much of an apple flavour!. meaning that as long as you don't tell anyone you did it no one wil know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

24 - single serving packets of sweetener equals 1 cup sugar!.

I've not had any problems substituting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try Splenda for Baking, it works well but it's not as sweet (even when you use the equivalent)!. Great info & recipes:

you can use artificial sweetner but sometimes they have just as much calories and also if you do this add 1/4 c applesauce to brownies or cake mixes!. It brings out the flavor more and makes it moist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
