Is it hard to do the basket weave technique on a cake?!

Question: Is it hard to do the basket weave technique on a cake!?
I want to do a cake that will require me to do the basket weave technique!. My husband and I always make our kid's birthday cakes and we aren't professionals that's for sure but they turn out alright!.

I have quite a bit of the wilton stuff but never got to take the classes like I intended!. I'm wondering if the basket weave is hard to do or not!. Maybe I'm getting in over my head and need to think of a different type of cake to make!?

Any ideas how I can learn to do this or which tip I'd need!? I'd like to start practicing but can't really find any good how to's online!. I did find one video but it was really short and didn't really help me at all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's actually pretty easy!. All you need is some patience and a steady hand!. The package that your tips came in will tell you what they can be used for!. When you find the tip you want to use, take a paper plate or piece of cardboard and make a few practice runs (so to speak), then get started!. Just take your time, I'm sure the cake will turn out beautiful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Once you get the hang of it, it looks a lot harder than it actually is!. This tutorial doesn't have any photos but it's all spelled out!. Practice a little on a piece of waxed paper before trying it on the cake!.

The basketweave is pretty easy, but practice first!. I forgot what tip you use (its like a star on one side and flat on the other)!. Do a straight vertical line, then do several horizontal lines (not connected, about 1/4 inch apart)!. At the end of those horizontal lines, do another vertical line, then do more horizontal lines in the spaces from the first set!. Continue like that switching back and forth on the horitontal lines!. I hope I didnt confuse you too much!.
The Wilton books will do a good job of walking you through step by step of doing it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
