Why is my cake hard on outside and soft inside?!

Question: Why is my cake hard on outside and soft inside!?
I'm having now to use a gas oven instead of a fan oven and I can't seem to get my cakes to remain soft on the outside as well as the inside!. They seem to go crusty, not like the cakes you buy in shops that are soft inside and out!. Any ideas would be welcomed, thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The temperature is probably too high, try turning it down by 10 degrees celcius or so!. If the temp is too high, the outside cooks too quickly, with the inside not cooking properly, and lower temperature will cook it more evenly throughout!. Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd go with getting an oven thermometer!. It would also help for you to adjust the time!. Try removing the cake from the oven maybe a few minutes before the supposed time!. It might make a difference!. For example, the baking time is 45 minutes and your cake was too hard!. Try removing the cake a few minutes before, like at 40-42 minutes!.

I don't think having a soft inside portion of the cake is a problem but there's a difference from soft and raw!. Make sure the inside portion is cooked!. It's not a problem if it's soft, as long as it's already baked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

get a reliable and accurate oven thermometer!. when the temperature changes abruptly or does note maintain the right temp it could affect the outcome of the cake!. Cakes are known to be sensitive to temp changes and eveness of the temp within the oven itself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My mother use to have trouble with cakes!. I think you just need More experience but hey I'm no expert!
gas stoves are a little hard to work with but don't worry it just takes timeWww@FoodAQ@Com
