Is it better or have plain cast iron or enamel coated??!

Question: Is it better or have plain cast iron or enamel coated!?!?
Okay, So I was wondering which was better for cooking!. I like to put a lot of things in the oven too or take camping!. Will the enamil caoted ones stand up to that kind of use!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
enamel will stand up fine for oven use, but not so sure about the banging around for camping!. Better keep plain cast iron for camp cooking!. Once the enamel chips off, then you have a spot that rusts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, the enameled ones will stand up to all sorts of abuse!. I simply prefer plain cast iron!. It even comes pre-seasoned right from the factory nowadays!. Yes, it does need more care than the enameled stuff, but to me, it cooks better-tasting food!. If I were you, I'd get two sets: plain for home use and enameled for camping (unless you're a re-enactor of earlier historic events like me - I NEVER would show up at a Civil War or Rev War re-enactment with enameled cookware) because it's a heck of a lot easier to keep clean in the outdoors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cast iron is much better and stands up to the heat!.

Enameled Cast Iron Cookware is so durable it will outlast Teflon by years!. Traditionally, cast iron was revered for its durability and practicality!. The Pilgrims brought cast iron cookware to America on the Mayflower!. The pioneers took it West in covered wagons!. It was handed down from generation to generation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love cast iron!. It is like a 55 Buick (indestructible)!. The only advantage to enamel coating is that it makes the surface nonreactive!. I think plain uncoated cast iron is best in 99 percent of the situations you may haveWww@FoodAQ@Com

Always go with cast iron!. You can fry, saute`, bake do just about any method of cooking you want!. It stands up to high heat unlike enamalWww@FoodAQ@Com
