Answers:
the oven wont burn down
Turn the oven on to the correct baking temperature
Wait five or more minutes until the oven is at that baking temperature then put the cookies into the already hot oven!.
Its ok to be a beginner - we all were in the beginning

By the way, if you're baking cookies, take them out of the oven at least two minutes earlier than the recipe tells you to!. Cookies are always moister if they don't cook the whole time!.

Cindy,
Preheating your oven before baking any dish is always something that I recommend!. Before you turn on your oven for preheating, make sure that your oven rack is placed in the center position so that it is far enough away from the heat source!. Having your rack to close to the bottom can cause your cookies to bake unevenly, perhaps burning them on the bottom!. Turn your oven to 350 degrees and let it heat up for 10 minutes, then turn it to the temperature that is recommended by the recipe that you are using and wait another 5 minutes!. After that, just pop in your cookies and wait for that delicious smell to fill the air!. Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hello,
To pre-heat your oven means to turn your oven on and set it to the temperature that your recipe indicates!. This gets the oven temperature regulated to the appropriate baking temperature!. This allows the item that you are baking to bake evenly rather than at different temperature levels!. If you bake at different temperature levels, your item may not cook properly, be undercooked or burn!.

Don't worry, I'm not laughing, the only way to learn is to ask! By the way, by preheating, your oven will not burn down! (Just remember to always shut it off after baking!)
Good Luck!
