I am a former chef and like the cats mother from Canada, and with the snow being gone from here and most other places except the tops of mountian and that is a bit extreme even for candy, I would suggest make maple fudge, you will need a tin or 2 of Carnation milk, some light or dark brown sugar and 1-2 cups of the maple syrup!.

Just add the contents together stir until smooth and bring to the boil, cook it at a steady boiled for 8-10 minutes and then pour into a greased or parchment line 8X8 baking pan to set, in a few hours or overnight you will have maple fudge, maple sugar candy is made by boiling down the sap into a syrup and adding a dairy product like cream and/or butter to solidify it into a mass, this is easier and you use less syrup, saves you some for your pancakes one day!. Oh and if your nuts, I mean like nuts you can add them to your fudge, walnuts, pecans even peanuts are fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wait for the winter and heat up the maple syrup and pour it on the snow that is what we do in Canada!. You get a great hard chewy candy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try this site!.
I don't think it's hard candy, more of a very firm fudge!.
Wow, you are lucky to have such generous friends!Www@FoodAQ@Com
