Sift powdered sugar and cocoa together (maybe a tablespoon of cocoa per cup of sugar!?)!. Add a tablespoon of melted butter per cup of sugar!. Mix, then slowly add milk until you get the frosting at the right consistency!. Add some choc!. syrup if it's not chocolate-y enough!. If you add too much liquid, add more sugar!.
You'll probably need three or four cups of sugar to frost a cake!.
Or, if you want a light frosting, take a cup of whipping cream!. Add some chocolate syrup and 1 tablespoon of sugar (more to taste)!. Whip it up (takes about 6 or 7 minutes) until stiff peaks form!. This is really delightful!
The chocolate ganache above would also be lovely -- maybe heavier, but richer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The other poster has given quite a nice one , but here is my way
for an 8 inch cake
4 tablespoons of good dark cocoa,
8 tablespoons of sieved icing sugar,
few drops of orange extract
6 tablespoons of good butter
1 egg white whipped
Sieve the cocoa & icing sugar and keep aside
In a clean bowl add the butter and whip till creamy and lighter in color, slowly add the icing sugar cocoa mix spoon by spoon, now blend it in gently- Add the whipped egg white a spoon at a time till the consistency is spreadable- You do not have to use all the egg white
Pour all the icing in the middle of the cake and spread it with a cake spatula and smoothen- Cover the sides as well
The egg white helps to keep the frosting a bit firm& shiny when dry, unlike a pure butter creme icing
Try it you may like itWww@FoodAQ@Com

There are only three ingredients, bittersweet chocolate, cream and rum (you can substitute brandy or even a tsp of vanilla extract for the rum)
You melt the chocolate in the cream, let it cool and whip the snot out of it if you want frosting instead of a ganache coating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
