The normal peanut butter, cream cheese and the rest!. In the States, the Cajuns use celery, bell pepper and onion , called "the Trinity" in gumbos, soups, pot roasts and numerous other dishes!. I f you ever get to the States, I'll treat you to a real Cajun dinner!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Braised celery

Preparation time less than 30 mins

Cooking time 1 to 2 hours

Ingredients
2 celery hearts
2 onions, chopped
2 carrots, diced
300ml/10fl oz veal stock

Method
1!. Because celery has a very pungent taste it benefits from par-boiling beforehand!.
2!. Wash and trim the celery hearts to about 15cm/6in long!. Halve lengthways and par-boil in salted water for 7 minutes!. Drain well!.
3!. Put the chopped onions and carrots into the bottom of a heavy-based pan or flameproof dish!. Lay the celery hearts on top and cover with a good veal stock!.
4!. Bring to the boil and then braise, uncovered, at 160-180C/325-350F/Gas 3-4 for 1 hour until the celery is very tender!. By this time the stock should be of a syrupy consistency!. If it is not, remove the vegetables on to a serving dish and keep warm!. Boil the stock rapidly until it reaches the right consistency and pour over the vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

One great thing you can do (but it;s not recommended for eating)is to put a stalk or two into water with food coloring or dye in it!. Children love how the dye streaks through the stalk, and it's a good way to explain how sap runs through a tree!.

Edible: chop some in with potroast, meatloaf, stew, or soup, before cooking!. The leaves are especially nice in soup, and if you're chopping, trimmed pieces that maybe aren't so pretty can be used!.

Chop in a waldorf salad: chop apples, celery, CA walnuts, and stir into mayo!. Chill and serve!.

Chop and add to potato salad or tuna salad!.

Fill with cheese spread, soft cheese, or peanut butter, for a snack!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

(guess how much you need) Blitz it in a blender, Celery, bread, garlic salt, flour, with chicken breast, and make chicken balls!. Blitz a tin of tomatoes with fresh ones and add 2 sachets of tomato cup soup, bring to boil add chicken balls and simmer for 20-30 mins, add water if needed, serve with brown rice!. Experiment with herbs and spices!. Enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's a brilliant ingredient in soups and stews, I like it much better cooked!.

My other half puts it in lentil bolognaise, it's lovely in that!.

Apparently, it's meant to have anti-inflammatory properties, especially the seeds!.!.!.I've just started studying Herbal medicine!.

I've also seen it shaped into the most ornate, but ridiculously kitch mini sculptures on plates in Chinese restaurants!Www@FoodAQ@Com
