Question: Iceing Attack!!?
My mom graduated from her school today! She can finally be a teacher!. I wanted to do something special for her, so me, my brother and cousin made her a cake!. The cake is done, but i dont have any iceing! anyone know how to make iceing from scratch!?Www@FoodAQ@Com


Answers:
Vanilla icing:

* 2 cups confectioners' sugar, sift before measuring
* 1 1/2 tablespoons butter, soft
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 3 to 4 tablespoons milk

Preparation:
Combine all icing ingredients in small mixing bowl!. Stir until smooth and well blended!. Adjust for spreading consistency if necessary, adding more milk or more confectioners' sugar!. Spread icing or drizzle on warm cookies or pound cake!.

I you DON'T have powdered sugar, then here's a recipe!.

Fluffy white frosting
* 1 cup white sugar
* 1/3 cup water
* 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 2 egg whites
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

1!. In a saucepan, stir together the sugar, water and cream of tartar!. Cook over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbly!.
2!. In a medium mixing bowl, whip the egg whites and vanilla to soft peaks!. Gradually add the sugar mixture while whipping constantly until stiff peaks form, about 7 to 10 minutes!. Frost the cake of your choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

beat 1/2 stick butter!. add about 4 cups powdered sugar, a splash of milk, and some vanilla, and mix it up with an electric beater!. add more milk/sugar if necessary!. taste and adjust!. this makes enough for 1 layer of a layer cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
