Things You’ll Need:

* 2 pounds Red Peppers
* Cookie Sheet
* Zippered Freezer Bag
* Rolling Pin
* Old Pillow Case
* Container with Shaker Top

Step1
Spread red peppers in a single layer on a cookie sheet!. Dry in the oven for 8 hours or overnight at the lowest temperature you oven will allow!. If you have a gas oven, the pilot light heat is probably enough!.
Step2
Remove the red peppers from the oven when they are dry and brittle!.
Step3
Fill a gallon sized freezer bag with the dried peppers!. Put the freezer bag in an old pillowcase!.
Step4
Use the rolling pin to crush the peppers!. Apply pressure as your roll the pin over the bag!.
Step5
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any remaining peppers!.
Step6
Remove them from the bag when the peppers are crushed as fine as you would like, and store in a container with a shaker top!.

Store any extra red pepper flakes in a clean storage bag or jar with a tight fitting lid!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are simply whole red peppers that are dried and ground!. I make my own sometimes!. I have a dehydrator and dry a few peppers from my garden and grind them up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They start as green peppers off the vine then they are dried - as they dry they continue to ripen turning red!. The red pepper is then simply ground for richer flavor they may be roasted after drying then ground!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you have to dry out your peppers first!. Dry it out so there is no moisture and you can crack it easily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
