Cooking Asparagus?!
Hi everyone!. Husband loves asparagus and I have never made them before!. Figured I would surprise him and make them!. All the recipes I have looked at are boring!. lol Any tips on how to give them some flavor or zest!? ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

for a true asparagus lover boring is best! snap off the stiff ends to get rid of the woody part!. drop in boiling water or steam until they are cooked but firm!. onto the plate with butter and salt - nothing better! if you have good food why cover it up!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Asparagus Wrapped in Serrano Ham
Servings: Makes 8 servings
Ingredients
3 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoon sherry vinegar
1 shallot, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
12 stalks each white and green asparagus, ends trimmed (24 total)
6 thin slices serrano ham (or prosciutto), each cut into 4 strips
1 cup frisée
1 cup mixed greens
1/2 pound each seedless green and red grapes, halved
1/4 cup sliced roasted almonds
Preparation:
Whisk oil, vinegar, shallot, salt and pepper in a bowl!. Set aside!. Cook asparagus in simmering water until soft but still crisp, 3 to 4 minutes!. Rinse under cold water and drain!. Wrap a strip of ham around each asparagus stalk!. Toss frisée, greens and grapes with dressing in a bowl, then transfer to a platter; top with asparagus!. Garnish with almonds!.
Asparagus with Prosciutto Di Parma, Pecorino Pepato, and Poached Eggs
Servings: Makes 8 servings!.
Ingredients
32 large asparagus spears (about 3 pounds), trimmed and peeled
8 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, preferably unfiltered*
8 large eggs
4 teaspoons sea salt
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
8 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 1 medium lemon)
8 thin slices proscuitto di Parma (about 4 ounces total)
3 ounces Pecorino Pepato,** finely grated
2 tablespoons fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
Preparation:
Have ready large bowl ice water!. In medium saucepan over high heat, bring salted water to boil!. Add asparagus and boil, uncovered, until crisp-tender, 2 to 3 minutes!. Drain, then immediately plunge spears into ice water to stop cooking!. Drain again and pat dry!.
Preheat grill to moderate heat!.
Transfer asparagus to large rimmed baking sheet and drizzle with 4 tablespoons olive oil!. Toss to coat!. Grill, in batches if necessary, until lightly charred, 8 to 10 minutes!. Keep warm!.
Arrange oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 400°F!. Lightly oil muffin pan!.
Crack one egg into each muffin cup (there will be 4 empty cups)!. Place muffin pan in large roasting pan and add enough hot water to reach halfway up the sides of muffin pan!. Bake until eggs are set but yolks are still runny, about 7 to 8 minutes!.
While eggs cook, arrange 4 asparagus spears in fan pattern on each of 8 plates!. Sprinkle each plate with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper, then drizzle each with 1 teaspoon lemon juice!. Drape 1 slice prosciutto atop asparagus on each plate!.
Using small offset spatula, carefully remove eggs from pan and place 1 atop each slice prosciutto!. Drizzle with remaining 4 tablespoons olive oil and sprinkle with Pecorino Pepata and parsley!.
Cook's note: If you prefer, the asparagus can be baked instead of grilled!. Skip the boiling step!. Drizzle the raw asparagus with oil and bake it at 450°F on a large rimmed baking sheet until tender, about 10 minutes!.

15 g butter
2 spring onions, chopped
455 g fresh asparagus, trimmed
3 g chopped roasted garlic
10 ml teriyaki sauce
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat!. Saute onions until tender!. Stir in asparagus and garlic; saute for 3 to 5 minutes, or until slightly cooked and heated through!.

I like olive oil, some thinly slivered onion, some parmesan cheese and some prosciutto - way tasty! Keep it light though!.!.!.asparagus has a fairly delicate flavor that can be overpowered pretty quickly by a heavy sauce!.
It's also good cut into smaller pieces and thrown into a pasta with a cream sauce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Lightly broil or roast them in the oven on a cookie tray tossed in good olive oil with garlic salt!. Do not cook too long as they will get too soft!. If cooking larger spears try using a vegetable peeler on the lower half of the spears to remove the harder woody part!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Bend the stalks until they break, only use the good end!.

Wrap them in foil after tossing them with olive oil, sea salt and minced garlic!. Cook on the b-b-q or in the oven for 15-20 min!. Or, steam them and make a Hollandaise sauce for them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Steam them rather than boiling them!.!.!. take the first inch or so off the bottom of the stalk so they are not woody once cooked!.
Squeeze some lemon juice and a sprinkle of garlic salt over them right before serving!.!.!.
