You can make scones with a lot of the ingredients!. Here's a great recipe:
Breakfast Scones
2 cups Flour
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 egg yolk
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup buttermilk (regular milk works too)
3/4 tsp nutmeg or cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup raisins, cranberries, or any other dried fruit you like
optional 1 cup walnuts or almonds
Preheat oven to 375 degrees!. In a food processor, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg (cinnamon), and salt!. Add butter in small pieces, mixing until it's a grainy cornmeal consistency!. Remove and put in a bowl!.
Whip together egg yolk and buttermilk (milk)!. Add sugar and raisins (dried fruit)!. Add this to flour mixture!. Knead 10-12 times!. It will be very sticky, so flour hands well!. Flatten into a mound 6 inches in diameter!. Cut into wedges!. It will yield 6 nice-size scones!. Scoop into cookie sheet!. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown!.
***I like to make flavors like vanilla almond cranberry by adding a little vanilla in the mixture!. Or you can do Raisins and walnuts!. They're great for breakfast, with tea in the afternoon, or as a dessert!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
