Question: Long Island Iced Tea!?
It is so difficult to find a recipe, because there seem to be thousands out there!!! I've tried a few, and they didnt turn out good!.

What do you think is the best Long Island Iced Tea recipe!? Why do all other drinks have the one usual recipe, when Long Islands seem to be different each place you go!!?!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Funny - I wrote a character once who was on a quest, traveling around the country testing for the best recipe for Long Island Iced Tea!.
Recipes saying one part, etc!. are giving you proportions rather than absolute measurements!. Half a shot each or a shot each will give you the same proportions!. Depends on how big a glass (pitcher!?) you're making!.
Here's a simple one I got from a woman I worked with who used to tend bar:
-------------------
Long Island Iced Tea
--------------------
1 part ea:

light rum
vodka
gin
sweet & sour
tequila (optional)

splash of cokeWww@FoodAQ@Com

This is the traditional recipe, but there a many many variations!. Substitutions are only limited by your imagination!

3/4 oz tequila
3/4 oz rum
3/4 oz gin
3/4 oz vodka
3/4 oz triple sec
3/4 oz sour mix
splash cola

Shake liquors with sour mix!. Pour in hurricane or tall glass!. Add splash of cola and garnish with a lemon wedge!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've always done a half shot of each: vodka, rum, tequila, gin, and triple sec!. Add about a 3/4 shot sweet and sour and a splash of coke!.

My favorite version of this drink would be radioactive ice tea!. It has the vodka, rum, tequila, gin!.!.!.!.!.!.then parrot bay and midori at the end!. Add a splash of coke!. It is really good but can lead to destruction if you drink too many of them:)Www@FoodAQ@Com
