Answers:
For thick chops, this is a common technique!. For thin chops, you will dry them out!.

Take a thick chop and brown under medium high heat will a small amount of fat in the pan!. Brown both sides!.

Make sure your skillet has a metal handle (duh)

Put it in the oven at 350 - 400 until done!. (oven pre-heated)

1 inch chops - 5 minutes

1 1/2 - 8 minutes

2 - 10 minutes

(adding 2-3 minutes per 1/2 inch of thickness)!. Note that the cooking times assume a 2-3 minute per side searing prior to roasting!.

Do not add broth or you will end up braising your chop and removing the brown carmelization!.

-------edit-----

You will end up with dust chops if you finish in the oven for the extended times that some are recommending!. Even if you don't trust my recommendation, do yourself a favor and check them at the interval that I am indicating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here's an entire recipe for doing it, and it's very good:

4-6 pork chops
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp rosemary
1 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, sliced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp worscestershire sauce

Add all spices and grind to a powder (there will be large pieces, that's ok)
Lightly dust one side of each chop
Heat oil in skillet and brown both sides of pork
Lay onion in large baking pan with foil (large enough to create a pocket)
Cover onion with soy sauce and worcestershire sauce
Lay browned chops on top of onions and dust with remaining spices
Fold foil to create pouch
Bake at 425 for 30-35 minutes open and serve with onion and sauce!

If you have an oven safe lid for your skillet you could just remove the pork chops, lay the onions in the skillet and pour the sauces over them, and then lay the pork chops on top, and cook with the lid on!.!.!.or you could do the same thing and just cover the skillet with the foil!. They need to be covered to retain moisture, and you could probably cut the cooking time a little as the skillet will already be hot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Few ideas for you:
Thin to med thick chops:
Brown in a skillet!. When brown on both sides top with rinsed sauerkraut!. Place in oven at about 325-350 for 30-45 minutes!.
OR
Brown in skillet, add some sliced onions and peppers and a cup or so of salsa!.
Place in oven again for about 30-45 min!. While they are cooking make some rice to serve with it!.

THICK cut chops!.
Cut a "pocket" in the side of the pork chop!.
Make your favorite stuffing, add some apple and or cranberries to it!. Stuff the stuffing into the pocket!. Bake in oven (at 350) for 45 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Season well and brown both sides at high heat, set aside!. Add additional oil to pan and thin slices of onion, saute and loosen pan drippings, adding a little broth, wine or water!. Place chops topped with onions and juices in a 350 oven, covered for 30 to 40 minutes depending on thickness!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i just remove the browned chops then saute 2 sliced onions in 2 T of oil!. Then add 3 T flour to the browned onions, 2 C of chicken broth whisk and bring up to a boil!. then add the chops back, reduce to simmer, cover and cook for 30 minutes longer!. no need to heat up the oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always brown in the skillet first as well to get that nice color, then bake at 350 for about 20 minute or until juice runs c lear!. you can add cream of mushroom soup or broth for added tenderness and flavor!. Onions are great as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yea!!. Just Cook!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
