Question about making meat lasagna?!
It will the first time so, should I put ricotta cheese under or over meat!?
This is what I plan on doing:
Pour sauce on the bottom of the pan
Layer of lasagna noodles
Ricotta cheese, then meat, then more sauce, then thin mozarella
Repeat the process with another layer!.!.!.
Is this ok!?
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, thats perfect! I actually put the meat right on top of the noodles, but it really doesn't matter, as long as you are layering it!. Make sure you save some of the shreaded mozarella cheese for the very top! And I would bake it with foil on top for the 1st 1/2 hour to 45 minutes then take the foil off for the rest of the time!. Just remember too that the total length of time for baking depends on if you made the lasagna ahead of time and it was in the fridge, or if you are putting it all together then baking it right away!. MMMM- add a nice salad and some garlic bread! You're making me hungry!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I alternate layers of meat and ricotta usually sauce and meat, then ricotta, then sauce and meat again!. I also put Parmesan on the meat layers!. Be sure to drain the ricotta cheese!. Top with thin layer of sauce!.
Some hints:
Don't use too much sauce and add a small can of paste to it if you are using spaghetti sauce from a jar!. Less than 1/2 cup per layer!. Too much and you will have soup!
Base layer of sauce on the bottom: 1/2 cup!.
Use an ice cream scoop for putting the meat and cheese in!. It makes it easier to use the same amount each time!. Usually six scoops for a regular sized pan!.
Let it sit for 10-20 minutes out of the oven before cutting it!. It will stay hot!. It needs time to set or it will be a big mess!.
Lasagna is ALWAYS better the next day!.
Many people cook it covered for 1/2 hour then uncover and top with cheese to finish it!. You can cook it at a lower (300) temp that way then finish it on high temp!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds good to me!. Just be sure that your layers of cheese, meat and sauce are not too thick!. Push down on the meat when you lay it down, so it kind of sinks into the ricotta a little!. Otherwise, when you try and serve pieces of the lasagna out of the pan after it's baked, the cheese and meat will ooze out the sides and it's pretty messy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yes, I usually spray pan then start with a layer of noodles, sauce, cheese, meat, ending with mozarella cheese on top (using ricotta for my other layers
be sure when it is done, to let it rest for 15 min!. before cutting so it comes out in nice pieces, otherwise it will run all over and be very messy instead of the nice layers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like you've got a great plan!.!.!.you know what you're doing! I'd put the cheese under the meat, if ya do it the other way around it could turn out to be a mess cause the cheese likes to stick to the meat, but it's a whole lot easier to pour the meat on top of the cheese without any "sticking" problems!. Good luck with your dish!.!.!.and if you've got an empty spot at the table I'm your girl! :-) LOL!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
That's how I make it!. But, isn't your meat part of the sauce!? I always brown the beef and then add the sauce and let simmer for a bit!. Make sure to let the lasagna rest for 10-15 mins before slicing!. That way, you have tall layers!. Of course, it tastes the same- just looks better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
That should work perfectly!. I would spread the sauce a little thin through the layers so it won't be too goopy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yes that is good,,,, the layer except for the top cheese is up to you!.!. always sauce on bottom thoughWww@FoodAQ@Com
Thats perfect!!! i feel its always best for the cheese to go under the meat!.
