Answers:
turn your heat down a notch and brush the grill every time you finish cooking!. also might help to cover the grill to inhibit the flames from getting too big!. to cook your food faster on the grill, cover the food directly (using a stainless steel bowl just big enough to cover the item) which will force the flames to go around the food, but still keeps the heat under AND around the food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
off set cooking!. I have three burners, turn the outside two and put the meat in the middle!.
if you only have two burners, turn one on, and put the meat over the other!.

Maybe you need to replace the lava rocks, they end up getting full of grease over time, throw those and buy a new bag of lava rocks!. That will take care of the problem!. I need new ones too !!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I cook on low temp setting!. That has cut down the grease fires a bunch! We also scrape the grill to get rid of the extra "stuff" on it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Get one of those pan things that you put on the grill so that wont happen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
