Cake recipe w/o using baking powder?!


Question: Cake recipe w/o using baking powder!?
I am looking for a great cake recipe that does not require baking powder!. i do however have baking soda!. I am just trying to avoid going to grocery store right now!. I have alot of other cooking ingredients!. thank you sooo muchWww@FoodAQ@Com

Chocolate Pan Cake - no baking powder, this is a great cake!

The Cake
Chocolate Base:
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup water
2 sticks butter

Dry Ingredients Bowl:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda

Liquids:
2 eggs
1/4 sour milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 400 degrees!. In sauce pan, over
medium-high add chocolate base ingredients,
bring to boil!. Set aside

Large mixing bowl add flour, sugar & baking soda,
pour the chocolate sauce mixture over dry ingredients!.
Add eggs, sour milk (just add 1 tsp!. lemon juice) and vanilla!.
Mix with electric mixer on medium speed, 2 minutes!.

Grease as 17 inch cookie sheet, pour batter into
prepared pan, bake for 15 minutes!.

Cool Completely and frost with Chocolate Icing!.

Chocolate Icing:
1 stick unsalted butter
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon Vanilla
6 tablespoons milk
One pound powdered sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

In sauce pan over medium-high heat,
add butter, cocoa powder, vanilla and milk!.
Bring to boil!. Transfer to mixing bowl, add
the powdered sugar, mix with electric mixer
until well blended!. Add nuts (optional)!. Pour
over cooled cake!.

baking powder IS baking soda mixed with an acid salt!. to use baking soda instead of baking powder in any recipe, add half the amount of baking soda as you would the baking powder (e!.g!. if the recipe calls for 2 teaspoons baking powder, add 1 teaspoon baking soda), and then add about 1 tablespoon of white vinegar AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE before putting it in the preheated oven!. i recommend making sure that the oven is the right temperature by using an oven thermometer, as 95% of ovens' temperatures are off!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

HOMEMADE SUBSTITUTE FOR BAKING POWDER

2 tbsp!. cream of tartar
1 tbsp!. baking soda
1 tbsp!. cornstarch

Sift together!. Store in airtight container!. One teaspoon of this is equal to 1 teaspoon store bought baking powderWww@FoodAQ@Com
