Question: Making pancakes with wheat flour!?
I have wheat flour only at the moment, but I am craving pancakes, how do they taste with wheat flour!? I've made wheat flour sugar cookies before, not a lot of people liked them, but I thought they were delicious, You can really taste the wheat from what I remember!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you liked sugar cookies made w/ WW flour, you'll enjoy pancakes!. You will probably need to add a little extra liquid, and let your batter sit about 5 minutes after mixing, before pouring out pancakes!.


The Best Buttermilk Pancakes

1 cup Buttermilk**
1 egg, room temp
3 Tbsp butter, melted
? cup all purpose flour
? tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Put the buttermilk, egg and melted butter in a mixing bowl!. Stir briskly until the mixture is smooth and blended!.
Stir the flour, salt and baking soda together in a small bowl!. Stir into the buttermilk mixture only until the dry ingredients are moistened - leave the smaller lumps!.
Heat a skillet or griddle to medium hot!. Grease lightly and spoon out a 3 TBLS of batter per pancake!. Cook until a few bubbles form on top and break!. Flip the pancake over and cook until golden brown!.!.not too long!.
These are the best pancakes and nothing else will compare after having these!!! Enjoy!.

Makes about 6-8 pancakes!.

**To make your own buttermilk, add 2 tsp of lemon juice or vinegar to a scant cup of milk, stir, and let sit at room temp for 15-30 min!. Stir again before adding to recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here's a recipe I have for whole wheat pancakes!.

Delicious Whole Wheat Pancakes
2/3 c!. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 t!. baking powder
4 t!. sugar
1/4 t!. salt
1 egg, well beaten
2/3 c!. milk
4 t!. cooking oil

Stir flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together!. Combine egg, milk, and oil and stir into flour mixture!. Cook on hot greased griddle and enjoy!.

I think you'll really enjoy whole wheat pancakes!. They probably won't taste much different than regular!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They will taste fine; especially if you like the wheat flavor!. To make "less" of the wheat flavor, add chopped bananas or berries and have fruited pancakes!. To help your pancakes to be light and fluffy, make some of the liquid in your pancake batter be 7up!. it really works!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, down here in the south we would refer to them as Buckwheat Pancakes!. They're Greaaat!Www@FoodAQ@Com
