Answers:
I am a former chef and have worked around, and I have only know of cooked fondant and I was a chef for 20+ years in Canada, Jamaica, Singapore and Japan!.

Fondant is a mix of water, sugar and glucose cooked to a heat of 230 d F, then like fudge is poured onto a slab or oiled pan and massaged until white and creamy, it is then cool and either warm to a soft mass or rolled like pastry to cover cakes, pastries or liquidified for Petit Fours desserts!.

Uncooked fondant is not fondant but a glaze like those put on some cakes, glazed donuts and sugar pastrys as a coating, it is not true fondant so your answer is yes, to eating uncooked what you thought fondant was!.

I am not criticizing you nor calling you out, but just correcting you in a friendly manner, that is what I do and ma only glad to help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
