What is the difference between molasses and treacle?!


Question: What is the difference between molasses and treacle!?
I keep reading that they are the same thing!? also what is Golden Syrup then!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Treacle is less refined than molasses, therefore it is darker in colour!. Molasses is" Made from sugar cane!. The roots of the sugar cane are deep and therefore able to receive a broad-spectrum of minerals & trace elements!. Black strap molasses is the liquor after removal of the crystalised sugar!."
Golden syrup is more refined again and therefore lighter in colour and higher in sugar content!. This is used for desserts etc!.
Molasses has a strong flavour and is not suitable for desserts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have always understood them to be the same!. I had always assumed that it was just a regional term!. I do know that molasses can come in many colors (we used to buy it home made) and that some folks like it cooked darker than others!. I have heard treacle used in British terminology more than anywhere elseWww@FoodAQ@Com

Treacle is molasses, but a blacker version of it!. Golden syrup is corn syrup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
