Substitute for red wine?!

Question: Substitute for red wine!?
Hello

I'm making some homemade baked beans!. The recipe calls for 1/3 c!. red wine!. I don't have red wine in the house, and don't feel like buying any!. I can't drink it (pregnant) and my hubby doesn't drink wine!.
Is there any sub, or can the red wine just be easily omitted!?
Thanks!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You can substitute red grape juice, cranberry juice, chicken broth, beef broth, vegetable broth, fruit juices or flavored vinegar!. (Substitute equal amount of liquid!.) In something like that, you are not likely to miss the flavor addition!. It is just one layer of many!.

I don't think anything would substitute for the red wine, it is always a crucial ingredient when cooking, like sugar, or butter!. However, it isn't necessary to drink it, and if the recipe involves cooking the wine itself, all the alcohol should be boiled away, so I don't believe that it would be a problem!.

Various wineries make 187mL bottles!. Just buying the appropriate number of those (3 maybe!?) would suffice, so you don't have to buy a full bottle just for 1/3 cup!. Depending on what state you live in, the 187mL bottle may or not be available at a grocery store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe beef broth or just water will be fine
i never put wine in baked beans anyway
here is a good recipe without wine
homemade baked beans

2 1/2 cups dried white beans (navy or pea beans)
2 cups nonfat barbecue sauce
1 cup catsup
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons chopped)
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon molasses
2 - pieces vegetarian Canadian bacon or smoky tempeh
strips, diced

Preparation - Estimated cooking time: Over 60 minutes
-
1 Soak beans overnight in 6 cups of water!. The next
day, drain the water and place beans in large saucepan
with water to cover!. Bring water to a boil, turn down
to a simmer!.
2 Cook until beans are just tender, about 1 1/2 hours!.
Drain!. Beans can be prepared up to this point 24 hours
ahead!.
3 Preheat oven to 350 degrees !.
4 Place remaining ingredients except bacon in a food
processor fitted with a metal blade and process until
smooth!. Scrape mixture into bowl with beans and stir
until beans are thoroughly coated!. Stir in diced
bacon!.
5 Transfer beans to a heavy casserole dish!. Cover with
foil!. Bake in preheated oven until beans are soft,
about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes!. If
mixture becomes too dry during the baking, stir in a
little water!.

In many recipes calling for wines you can substitute chicken or beef broth but it's beans!. I'd either just leave it out ir use vegetable broth!. I don't it would hurt to leave it out though unless your cooking the beans from a dry state!. If you are, then use broth of your chosing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depending on the recipe you might just be able to omit the red wine!.

1 cup red wine can be substituted for 1 cup apple cider, beef broth, tomato juice or water!.

Www@FoodAQ@Com

typically broth, or rd wine viegar depending on the recipe!. But I usually go with broth either chicken or beef depending!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can omit it!. Wine will burn off during the cooking process!. If it seems dry put 1/3 cup of water instead!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
