it will take a while to soften if you just took it out of the fridge!. If you have a light on your stove, turn on the light and set the butter stick on the stove (stove must be off) under the light, OR if you are in a hurry, unwrap butter, put in micro-safe dish and microwave for about 8-10 seconds!. This should soften it to the point of creaming it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
To speed up the softening of butter, cut it up into little cubes!. The greater the surface volume that is exposed to the air temperature, the faster it will soften!.
How long it will take depends on the temperature of the room!. Butter is considered soft when it can easily be squished between your finger and thumb!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Microwave is the fastest method!.
Adjust the Power Level to 1 or 2 which is the lowest setting and it will evenly soften the butter!.
Otherwise the outside will melt before the inside is even softened!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depending on the room temperature, it could take an hour!.
I've found that placing it in the microwave for 10 seconds on high (any longer and it liquefies from the inside out) is perfect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It takes an hour or longer!. If you need it now, you can put it in the microwave, on low power, for 15-30 seconds!. Don't let it melt though or it can mess up your recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Stick it in the microwave for thirty seconds to a minute!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I usually keep my stick butter in the freezer and it usually takes an hour or so in the fridge I would think it would be soft in like 20 minutes Www@FoodAQ@Com
