What would you do with 5lbs of ground beef? What would!
you make!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Depends on how many I'm cooking for! I am of the type who likes to cook a lot on one day, then eat leftovers the rest of the week!. With that much, I'd use about a pound and a half or so for meatballs, make a marinara sauce and some pasta and save that for the rest of the week!. I"d make 3 or 4 1/3 lb burgers for dinner that night and use the rest in a meatloaf or such for variety during the week!. Hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com
A child's love shepherd's pie
it takes some corn and the cheese burger hamburger helper without the macaroni!. You first take the ground beef and mix it with about 5 packets of the cheese from hbh and that makes the meat part when you are done with that you take some drained sweet corn and mix that in!. Set aside!. Take out about 6 to 8 potatoes and peel cube and boil them, clean them if grown in a garden before any of this!.Drain potatoes in a collander and then put them a bowl and mash them until well ground and then make mashed potatoes and spread them over the meat mixture when done and sprinkle some finely chopped basil and bake in oven at 350 degrees for about 10 mins!. and it is done when the top is golden brown, it is SOOO delicious, trust me!.
A good side is egg salad, don't ask , it just is amazing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

meatloaf duh! mmmmm haha
Tomato Relish:
Extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, finely diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 bay leaves
2 red bell peppers, cored, seeded, and finely diced
2 tomatoes, halved, seeded, and finely diced
1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 (12-ounce) bottle ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Meatloaf:
3 slices white bread, crusts removed, torn into chunks by hand
1/4 cup whole milk
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork
2 eggs
Leaves from 2 fresh thyme sprigs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 to 4 bacon slices
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F!.
Coat a skillet with a 2-count of oil and place over medium heat!. Saute the onion, garlic, and bay leaves for a few minutes to create a base flavor!. Throw in the red peppers and cook them for a couple of minutes to soften!. Now add the tomatoes; adding them at this point lets them hold their shape and prevents them from disintegrating!. Stir in the parsley, ketchup, and Worcestershire; season with salt and pepper!. Simmer the relish for 5 minutes to pull all the flavors together!. Remove it from the heat; you should have about 4 cups of relish!.
Place the torn white bread in a bowl and add the milk to just barely cover, swish the bread around in the milk and let it sit while you get the rest of the ingredients for the meat loaf together!.
This is where you get your hands dirty! In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork with 1 1/2 cups of the tomato relish, the eggs, and thyme; season with salt and pepper!. Squeeze the excess milk from the bread and add the soaked bread to the meat mixture!. To test, fry a small "hamburger" patty of the meatloaf until cooked; the patty should hold together but still have a soft consistency!. Taste the patty for seasoning!.
Lightly oil a cookie sheet!. Transfer the meat mixture to the center of the cookie sheet and form into a log about 9 inches long and about 4 inches wide!. Coat the top of the meatloaf with another 1/2 cup of the tomato relish!. Lay the bacon across the top lengthwise!.
Bake the meatloaf for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until the bacon is crisp and the meatloaf is firm!. Rotate the meat loaf while it's baking every now and then to insure that the bacon browns evenly!. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it cool a bit before slicing!. Serve with the remaining tomato relish on the side!. Unbelievably moist!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would take two pounds of the beef and mix it up with some really great dried herbs for beef, like Paul Prudhome's Steak Magic!. I would make that beef into patties that are about an inch in diameter longer than a normal hamburger, and very thin!. I would wrap them individually and then put them in a large gallon freezer bag for later!.
Then I would take Giada's Simple Bolognese recipe
http://www!.foodnetwork!.com/recipes/giada!.!.!.
And triple the recipe!. I would use 2/3 of it to make a lasagna with fresh mozzarella and steamed broccoli!. I would freeze the last 1/3 in two different gallon sized containers for future pasta-and-sauce cravings!.
That would be my ultimate!. Giada's Simple Bolognese isn't as incredible as other recipes for really intricate sauces, but it is the most bang you can get for your cooking buck given a normal amount of time spent cooking anything!

Well, I wouldn't use it all for the same thing that's for sure!.
I would make some Sloppy Joe's and freeze the rest for a later date!.
If you plan on storing it in a freezer for longer than two months, wrap it in heavy-duty foil, and place it in freezer bags, so it won't get freezer burn!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it's fresh, I'd break it into 5 pieces and freeze it!. But I agree that you could make burgers, chili (no beans) or spaghetti sauce!. They all freeze well!. I often make a large pan of taco meat and freeze that!. It's easy to take out some for your eggs or a burrito!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
