How weird would it taste to use olive oil in place of vegetable oil for a cake?!


Question: How weird would it taste to use olive oil in place of vegetable oil for a cake!?
Olives are vegetables, right!? Can I get away with it!? it's a really chocolatey cake, so that would help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on the type of cake you're trying to make!. I imagine that if you want to make a chocolate cake or an German Shepperd cake then you won't notice!. Pound cake, seven up cake and any other 'light' or delicate cake may be another story!. Hope I helped :0)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would not put olive oil in my cake, it will have a taste for sure, olive oil is not made for sweets!.
You can use vegetable oil, it don't have a taste, but olive oil, even though it is vegetable, it have a taste and smell, you can always see for yourself!.
Just use the regular vegetable oil or butter if you like, the best thing is butter but if you want your cake to be less fat, use vegetable oil instead!.
I know the taste with olive oil, I taste it once!!!

There are two kinds of olive oil - extra virgin and extra light!. Extra virgin tastes more like olives, so is best in salads!. Extra light is best for cooking and should be fine in cakes!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can do it but at the price of Olive oil why would you want to!. It would make for an expensive cake!. But it is fine to use if you have nothing else!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it would taste horrible!. They are both veggie oils, yes, but olive oil when heated takes on a much stronger dominant flavor, not to mention has a lower burning temperature then Canola and Vegetable oil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
