Ok, some of these answers kinda missed the point - if you can't find baking powder in Spain, chances are you can't find self-rising flour either!
For most recipes, it works to substitute 1 part baking soda for 3 parts baking powder!. So if your recipe requires a TBSP of powder, you can use a tsp!. of soda (3 tsp to a TBSP)!. I've never had trouble with it reacting properly!.
Good luck! I know exactly how you feel!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!. Grease and flour a Bundt pan!.
Combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs, water, sour cream, and vanilla!. Beat until smooth!. Stir in chocolate chips!. Pour batter into prepared pan!.
Bake for 1 hour!. Allow to cool!.

I assume you do not have a mix, or you wouldn't have a need to ask this!. I think you can use baking soda if you add a little vinegar also!. Another thing to do is beat your egg whites until they are really puffy, then gently stir them in to the flour and other ingredients!. This will add volume to your cake also!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it's OK, just pour a little vinegar, whichever one you have on hand ( preferably white), lemon or lime juice over your measured baking powder!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i think you could just use self raising flour instead of plain flour!. I hate baking powder it sometimes wrecks it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
