What is a good way to insure that a grilled Hamburger is safe but still rare?!
Some resturants won't serve rare hamburger, is there a way to tell when it is safe!? Thanks Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hamburger, being ground and having a large surface area, attracts and holds bacteria easier than whole cuts of meat!. There is no sure way to tell that a hamburger is safe when rare, but if you grind your own meat from whole cuts bought at a butcher you can lessen your chances of contamination in the burger (as long as you grind the meat the same day you make the burger)!.!.!.Its always safest to just not eat rare hamburgers though!. well the reason they wont serve rare is becuase the board of health will fine them if they do!.raw chopped meat is very risky becuase when the cow is cut up if the butcher cuts into the cows intestines and doesnt realize it their is a great risk to getting ecoli
especially for young kids ,they say that if you give a kid a rare hamburger is same as giving him a loaded gun and playing rushian roulette you can eat it rare but their is a slight risk of getting sick and if you get ecoli you will wish you were dead becuase it is one of the worst pains imaginedWww@FoodAQ@Com

Use a reputable butcher!. Keep the hamburger refrigerated until ready to use!. Wash your hands! Do not overhandle, only enough to incorporate your spices and form the paddy!. Make sure the grill is really hot and forms good grill marks immediately!. Allow the burgers to rest no longer than 10 minutes before serving, they will continue to cook off of the heat!. In a restaurant, there's really no way to tell!. Lord only knows how many people have handled it!.
At home, you can grind your own beef in a food processor and it would be safer to eat rare than pre-ground beef from the store!. It would taste better too since you can grind a better cut of beef instead of whatever scraps the butcher had around!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The best way is to know the processor of the ground meats!! If you know the processor you know if they are being totally sanitary or not!.
Do not eat any burger in any place away from home that is not cooked to medium!.
I love Steak Dianne, but it is not served publicly any more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It must be cooked through to ensure there is no danger of food poisoning!.
