Shows/movies about restaurants and cooking!
hi, I'm an aspiring chef that luvs watching shows about cooking and restaurants
I'm really into shows like Ramsay's kitchen nightmares, Jamie's kitchen and top chef, not only cause their entertaining but also cause i learn stuff too
and I'm hungry for some other great tittles, does anyone know of any such tittles
i dont really mind if its a show or a movie, as long as its about restaurants or cooking, competitive cooking is really nice too, im trying to get into molecular gastronomy and i've neva seen a good show about it
oh btw im not to keen on the programs on the food network, it just seems really tacky and nothing seems to be made with passion or with any form of care, im not trying to hate, its just not my cup of tea, im more into proffessional cooking, like concerning chasing michelin stars and AA rossetes
thnx heapz

I've seen very little on chasing Michelin stars and AA rosettes on TV, but PBS has a great rotation of professional chefs!. Some of the older Julia Child's shows were really amazing - a variety of chefs and different techniques!. Jacques Pepin is really amazing!. PBS has a few cooking shows in the daytime, Martin Yan, Ming Si, Lidia Bastianich, grill chef Steven Raichlen!. And you can find shows Saturday morning, America's Test Kitchen, Rick Bayless, Julia, Lydia!. If you live in a big city, you may be able to find some VHS cooking tapes of some of the masters, especially Julia and her guest chefs!. That's where I go to check out all kinds of great cookbooks!. All of these celebrity chefs have published cookbooks!. It's great to see their work on paper, too!.
As far as Food Network, the good stuff is usually on at the weird hours, pushed aside by network executives to make room for Rachael Ray and Giada!. Dooh! So if you have a DVR, set it for Molto Mario, Michael Chiarello, Tyler Florence, etc!. The Bammer (Emeril) is a good teacher, and is less flashy than in the past!. Iron Chef America, and the original Iron Chef are pretty amazing to watch!.
Check out the bio of one of our local Master Chef's, Chef Handke!. When the Top Chef tour came to town, Hung (season # winner) and Richard, (season 4 finalist) at at his restaurant!. This is one man to pattern your life after
Update: Pickles: I have't seen much in professional skills videos!. I'm sure they are out there, maybe even on the web!.
Two cooking related movies I enjoy are :

Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern!. I love that show, he goes all over the world, and eats some funky things like worms, and scorpions, which are staples in many asian countries!. It's on the Travel Channel, and I try and never miss an episode!.
