Cooking roast potatoes with roast dinner?!
I have found some great recipes for roast potatoes, but I am not sure how to go about roasting them at the same time as cooking roast lamb!. I usually slow cook lamb on 170 degress for 2 1/2 hours, but all the recipes for roast potatoes need to go on 220 degrees for approx!. 45 mins which is obviously a lot hotter!. I also use a self-basting roasting tin (which is basically a tin with a lid on where the juices from the meat drip down onto the joint)!.
Would I be able to cook the potatoes in this tin, maybe on a lower temperature, for a longer period of time!? Any suggestions welcomed!Www@FoodAQ@Com

While roasting your lamb par boil your potatoes!.
About 1 hr before lamb is done add the potatoes to the lamb & keep basting & turning them!.
When lamb is cooked take it out to rest!.
Put back the roasties into oven & turn oven up to 200 degrees!.
I prefer mine roasted on thier own in duck or goose fat,with the roasting pan & fat nicely hot before adding roasties!.
Use Maris Piper or King Edwards not other spud will do for roasties!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

make your roast potatoes into fantail potatoes!. slice the potato every 5 mm half way down the potato!. i would cook them on a seperate tray from the roast and at that temperature for about 70 minutes!. put them in for 5 minutes at about 200 degrees when you take the roast out to crisp it!. roast potatoes are delicious cooked like this cos it increases the crispy surface!. sometines i like to put the odd sliver of garlic ino the slits to make them garlic roast potatoes or sprinkle sesame seeds on top which is also delicious!. put them on near the end!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yes what i do is put it in longer in a tray under the meat and then when you take the meat out to rest blast the potatoes on a higher degree for 10-15 mins to make the skin crisp!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
